But he walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel, yea, and made his sonto pass throughthe fire, according to the abominationsof the heathen, whomthe LORDcast outfrom beforethe childrenof Israel. And he sacrificedand burnt incensein the high places, and onthe hills, and undereverygreentree. ThenRezinkingof Syriaand Pekahsonof Remaliahkingof Israelcame upto Jerusalemto war: and they besiegedAhaz, but couldnotovercome him . At thattimeRezinkingof SyriarecoveredElathto Syria, and drovethe Jewsfrom Elath: and the Syrianscameto Elath, and dweltthereuntothisday. So AhazsentmessengerstoTiglathpileserkingof Assyria, saying, I am thy servantand thy son: come up, and saveme out of the handof the kingof Syria, and out of the handof the kingof Israel, which rise upagainstme. And Ahaztookthe silverand goldthat was foundin the houseof the LORD, and in the treasuresof the king's house, and sent it for a presentto the kingof Assyria. And the kingof Assyriahearkeneduntohim: for the kingof Assyriawent upagainstDamascus, and tookit, and carried the people of it captiveto Kir, and slewRezin. And kingAhazwentto Damascusto meetTiglathpileserkingof Assyria, and sawan altarthat was at Damascus: and kingAhazsenttoUrijahthe priestthe fashionof the altar, and the patternof it, according to allthe workmanshipthereof. And Urijahthe priestbuiltan altaraccording to allthatkingAhazhad sentfrom Damascus: soUrijahthe priestmade it againstkingAhazcamefrom Damascus. And when the kingwas comefrom Damascus, the kingsawthe altar: and the kingapproachedtothe altar, and offeredthereon. And he burnthis burnt offeringand his meat offering, and pouredhis drink offering, and sprinkledthe bloodof hispeace offerings, uponthe altar. And he broughtalso the brazenaltar, which was beforethe LORD, fromthe forefrontof the house, from betweenthe altarand the houseof the LORD, and putit onthe northsideof the altar. And kingAhazcommandedUrijahthe priest, saying, Uponthe greataltarburnthe morningburnt offering, and the eveningmeat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offeringof allthe peopleof the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkleuponit allthe bloodof the burnt offering, and allthe bloodof the sacrifice: and the brazenaltarshall befor me to inquire by . Thus didUrijahthe priest, according to allthatkingAhazcommanded. And kingAhazcut offthe bordersof the bases, and removedthe laverfrom offthem; and took downthe seafrom offthe brazenoxenthat were underit, and putit upona pavementof stones. And the covertfor the sabbaththatthey had builtin the house, and the king's entrywithout, turnedhe from the houseof the LORDforthe kingof Assyria. Now the restof the actsof Ahazwhichhe did, are theynotwritteninthe bookof the chroniclesof the kingsof Judah? And Ahazsleptwithhis fathers, and was buriedwithhis fathersin the cityof David: and Hezekiahhis sonreignedin his stead.
