And the wordof the LORDcameuntohim, saying, Getthee hence, and turnthee eastward, and hide thyselfby the brookCherith, that is beforeJordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drinkof the brook; and I have commandedthe ravensto feedthee there. So he wentand didaccording unto the wordof the LORD: for he wentand dweltby the brookCherith, that is beforeJordan. And the ravensbroughthim breadand fleshin the morning, and breadand fleshin the evening; and he drankofthe brook. And it came to passaftera while, that the brookdried up, becausethere had beennorainin the land. And the wordof the LORDcameuntohim, saying, Arise, getthee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwellthere: behold, I have commandeda widowwomanthereto sustainthee. So he aroseand wentto Zarephath. And when he cametothe gateof the city, behold, the widowwoman was theregatheringof sticks: and he calledtoher, and said, Fetchme, I pray thee, a littlewaterin a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was goingto fetch it , he calledtoher, and said, Bringme, I pray thee, a morselof breadin thine hand. And she said, As the LORDthy Godliveth, I havenota cake, buta handfulof mealin a barrel, and a littleoilin a cruse: and, behold, I am gatheringtwosticks, that I may go inand dressit for me and my son, that we may eatit, and die. And Elijahsaiduntoher, Fearnot; go and doas thou hast said: butmakeme thereofa littlecakefirst, and bring it unto me, and aftermakefor thee and for thy son. Forthussaiththe LORDGodof Israel, The barrelof mealshall notwaste, neithershall the cruseof oilfail, untilthe day that the LORDsendethrainuponthe earth. And she wentand didaccording to the sayingof Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrelof mealwastednot, neitherdid the cruseof oilfail, according to the wordof the LORD, whichhe spokebyElijah. And it came to passafterthesethings, that the sonof the woman, the mistressof the house, fell sick; and his sicknesswassosore, thatthere was nobreathleftin him. And she saiduntoElijah, Whathave I to do with thee, O thou manof God? art thou comeuntome to call my sinto remembrance, and to slaymy son? And he saiduntoher, Giveme thy son. And he tookhim out of her bosom, and carried him upintoa loft, whereheabode, and laidhim uponhis own bed. And he crieduntothe LORD, and said, O LORDmy God, hast thou alsobrought eviluponthe widowwithwhomIsojourn, by slayingher son? And he stretched himselfuponthe childthreetimes, and crieduntothe LORD, and said, O LORDmy God, I pray thee, let thischild's soulcome into him again. And the LORDheardthe voiceof Elijah; and the soulof the childcame into him again, and he revived. And Elijahtookthe child, and brought him downout ofthe chamberinto the house, and deliveredhim unto his mother: and Elijahsaid, See, thy sonliveth. And the womansaidtoElijah, Nowby thisI knowthatthou art a manof God, and that the wordof the LORDin thy mouth is truth.
