And takewiththee tenloaves, and cracknels, and a cruseof honey, and gotohim: heshall tellthee whatshall becomeof the child. And Jeroboam's wifedidso, and arose, and wentto Shiloh, and cameto the houseof Ahijah. But Ahijahcouldnotsee; forhis eyeswere setby reason of his age. And the LORDsaiduntoAhijah, Behold, the wifeof Jeroboamcomethto aska thingofthee forher son; forhe is sick: thusand thusshalt thou sayuntoher: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that sheshall feign herself to be another woman. And it was so , when Ahijahheardthe soundof her feet, as she came inat the door, that he said, Come in, thou wifeof Jeroboam; whyfeignest thou thyself to be another? for I am senttothee with heavy tidings . Go, tellJeroboam, Thussaiththe LORDGodof Israel, Forasmuchas I exaltedthee from amongthe people, and madethee princeovermy peopleIsrael, And rentthe kingdomaway from the houseof David, and gaveit thee: and yet thou hast notbeenas my servantDavid, whokeptmy commandments, and whofollowedme with allhis heart, to do that only which was rightin mine eyes; But hast doneevilabove allthatwerebeforethee: for thou hast goneand madethee othergods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast castme behindthy back: Thereforebehold, I will bringeviluponthe houseof Jeroboam, and will cut offfrom Jeroboamhim that pissethagainst the wall, and him that is shut upand leftin Israel, and will take awaythe remnantof the houseof Jeroboam, asa man taketh awaydung, tillit be all gone. Him that diethof Jeroboamin the cityshall the dogseat; and him that diethin the fieldshall the fowlsof the aireat: forthe LORDhath spoken it . For the LORDshall smiteIsrael, asa reedis shakenin the water, and he shall root upIsraelout ofthisgoodland, whichhe gaveto their fathers, and shall scatterthem beyondthe river, becausethey have madetheir groves, provoking the LORD to anger. And he shall give Israel upbecauseof the sinsof Jeroboam, whodid sin, and whomade Israel to sin. And Jeroboam's wifearose, and departed, and cameto Tirzah: and when shecameto the thresholdof the door, the childdied; And they buriedhim; and allIsraelmournedfor him, according to the wordof the LORD, whichhe spokeby the handof his servantAhijahthe prophet. And his mother's name was Naamahan Ammonitess. And Judahdidevilin the sightof the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousywith their sinswhichthey had committed, above allthattheir fathershad done. For theyalsobuiltthem high places, and images, and groves, oneveryhighhill, and undereverygreentree. And there werealsosodomitesin the land: and they didaccording to allthe abominationsof the nationswhichthe LORDcast outbeforethe childrenof Israel. And it came to passin the fifthyearof kingRehoboam, that Shishakkingof Egyptcame upagainstJerusalem: And he took awaythe treasuresof the houseof the LORD, and the treasuresof the king's house; he even took awayall: and he took awayallthe shieldsof goldwhichSolomonhad made. And kingRehoboammadein their steadbrazenshields, and committed them untothe handsof the chiefof the guard, which keptthe doorof the king's house. And it was so , whenthe kingwentinto the houseof the LORD, that the guardborethem, and brought them backintothe guardchamber.
