And Josephwas brought downto Egypt; and Potiphar, an officerof Pharaoh, captainof the guard, an Egyptian, boughthim of the handsof the Ishmaelites, whichhad brought him downthither. And the LORDwaswithJoseph, and he wasa prosperousman; and he wasin the houseof his masterthe Egyptian. And his mastersawthatthe LORD was withhim, and that the LORDmade allthathedidto prosperin his hand. And Josephfoundgracein his sight, and he servedhim: and he made him overseeroverhis house, and all that he hadhe putinto his hand. And it came to passfrom the time that he had made him overseerin his house, and overallthathe had, that the LORDblessedthe Egyptian's housefor Joseph's sake; and the blessingof the LORDwasupon allthathe hadin the house, and in the field. And he leftallthathe had in Joseph's hand; and he knewnotaughthe had, savethe breadwhichhedid eat. And Josephwas a goodly person , and wellfavored. And it came to passafterthesethings, that his master's wifecasther eyesuponJoseph; and she said, Liewithme. But he refused, and saiduntohis master's wife, Behold, my masterknowethnotwhat is withme in the house, and he hath committedallthathe hathto my hand; There is nonegreaterin thishousethanI; neitherhath he kept backany thingfromme butthee, becausethou art his wife: howthen can I dothisgreatwickedness, and sinagainst God? And it came to pass, as she spoketoJosephdayby day, that he hearkenednotuntoher, to liebyher, or to bewithher. And it came to passabout thistime, that Joseph wentinto the houseto dohis business; and there was noneof the menof the housetherewithin. And she caughthim by his garment, saying, Liewithme: and he lefthis garmentin her hand, and fled, and gothim out. And it came to pass, when she sawthathe had lefthis garmentin her hand, and was fledforth, That she calledunto the menof her house, and spokeunto them, saying, See, he hath brought ina Hebrewunto us to mockus; he came inuntome to liewithme, and I criedwith a loudvoice: And it came to pass, when he heardthatI lifted upmy voiceand cried, that he lefthis garmentwithme, and fled, and gothim out. And she laid uphis garmentbyher, untilhis lordcamehome. And she spokeuntohim according to thesewords, saying, The Hebrewservant, whichthou hast broughtunto us, came inuntome to mockme: And it came to pass, as I lifted upmy voiceand cried, that he lefthis garmentwithme, and fledout. And it came to pass, when his masterheardthe wordsof his wife, whichshe spokeuntohim, saying, After thismannerdidthy servantto me; that his wrathwas kindled. And Joseph's mastertookhim, and puthim intothe prison, a placewherethe king's prisoners were bound: and he wastherein the prison. But the LORDwaswithJoseph, and showedhim mercy, and gavehim favorin the sightof the keeperof the prison. And the keeperof the prisoncommittedto Joseph's handallthe prisonersthat were in the prison; and whatsoeverthey didthere, hewasthe doer of it . The keeperof the prisonlookednotto any thing that was under his hand; becausethe LORDwas withhim, and that whichhedid, the LORDmade it to prosper.
