And he heardthe wordsof Laban's sons, saying, Jacobhath taken awayallthat was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gottenallthisglory. And Jacobbeheldthe countenanceof Laban, and, behold, it was nottowardhim as before. And the LORDsaiduntoJacob, Returnuntothe landof thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will bewiththee. And Jacobsentand calledRacheland Leahto the fielduntohis flock, And saidunto them, Iseeyour father's countenance, thatit is nottowardme as before; but the Godof my fatherhath beenwithme. And yeknowthatwith allmy powerI have servedyour father. And your fatherhath deceivedme, and changedmy wagestentimes; but Godsufferedhim notto hurtme. Ifhe saidthus, The speckledshall bethy wages; then allthe cattleborespeckled: and ifhe saidthus, The ringstreakedshall bethy hire; then boreallthe cattleringstreaked. Thus Godhath taken awaythe cattleof your father, and given them to me. And it came to passat the timethat the cattleconceived, that I lifted upmine eyes, and sawin a dream, and, behold, the ramswhich leapeduponthe cattle were ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled. And the angelof Godspokeuntome in a dream, saying , Jacob: And I said, Here am I. And he said, Lift upnowthine eyes, and see, allthe ramswhich leapuponthe cattle are ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled: forI have seenallthatLabandoethunto thee. I am the Godof Bethel, wherethou anointedstthe pillar, and wherethou vowedsta vowunto me: nowarise, get thee outfromthisland, and returnuntothe landof thy kindred. And Racheland Leahansweredand saidunto him, Is there yetany portionor inheritancefor us in our father's house? Are we notcountedof him strangers? forhe hath soldus, and hath quite devouredalsoour money. Forallthe richeswhichGodhath takenfrom our father, that is ours, and our children's: nowthen, whatsoeverGodhath saiduntothee, do. Then Jacobrose up, and sethis sonsand his wivesuponcamels; And he carried awayallhis cattle, and allhis goodswhichhe had gotten, the cattleof his getting, whichhe had gottenin Padan-aram, for to gotoIsaachis fatherin the landof Canaan. And Labanwentto shearhis sheep: and Rachelhad stolenthe imagesthat were her father's. And Jacobstole awayunawaresto Labanthe Syrian, in thathe toldhim notthathefled. So hefledwith allthathe had; and he rose up, and passed overthe river, and sethis face toward the mountGilead. And it was toldLabanon the thirddaythatJacobwas fled. And he tookhis brethrenwithhim, and pursuedafterhim sevendays' journey; and they overtookhim in the mountGilead. And GodcametoLabanthe Syrianin a dreamby night, and saidunto him, Take heedthatthou speaknot toJacobeither goodorbad. Then LabanovertookJacob. Now Jacobhad pitchedhis tentin the mount: and Labanwithhis brethrenpitchedin the mountof Gilead. And Labansaidto Jacob, Whathast thou done, that thou hast stolen awayunawaresto me, and carried awaymy daughters, as captives taken with the sword? Whereforedidst thou flee awaysecretly, and steal awayfrom me; and didst nottellme, that I might have sent thee awaywith mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp? And hast notsufferedme to kissmy sonsand my daughters? thou hast nowdone foolishlyin so doing. It isin the powerof my handto doyou hurt: but the Godof your fatherspokeuntome last night, saying, Take thou heedthat thou speaknot toJacobeither goodorbad. And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, becausethou sore longedstafter thy father's house, yet whereforehast thou stolenmy gods? And Jacobansweredand saidto Laban, BecauseI was afraid: forI said, Peradventurethou wouldest take by forcethy daughtersfromme. Withwhomsoeverthou findestthy gods, let him notlive: beforeour brethrendiscernthou what is thine withme, and take it to thee. For JacobknewnotthatRachelhad stolenthem. And Labanwentinto Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the twomaidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then wenthe out of Leah's tent, and enteredinto Rachel's tent. Now Rachelhad takenthe images, and putthem in the camel's furniture, and satuponthem. And Labansearchedallthe tent, but found them not. And she saidtoher father, Let it notdispleasemy lordthatI cannotrise upbeforethee; forthe customof women is upon me. And he searched, but foundnotthe images. And Jacobwas wroth, and chidedwith Laban: and Jacobansweredand saidto Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, thatthou hast so hotly pursuedafterme? Whereasthou hast searchedallmy stuff, whathast thou foundof allthy householdstuff? set it herebeforemy brethrenand thy brethren, that they may judgebetweenus both. Thistwentyyears have I been withthee; thy ewesand thy she goatshave notcast their young, and the ramsof thy flockhave I noteaten. That which was torn of beasts I broughtnotuntothee; Ibore the lossof it; of my handdidst thou requireit, whether stolenby day, or stolenby night. Thus I was; in the daythe droughtconsumedme, and the frostby night; and my sleepdepartedfrom mine eyes. Thushave I been twentyyearsin thy house; I servedthee fourteenyearsfor thy twodaughters, and sixyearsfor thy cattle: and thou hast changedmy wagestentimes. Exceptthe Godof my father, the Godof Abraham, and the fearof Isaac, had beenwith me, surelythou hadst sent me awaynowempty. Godhath seenmine afflictionand the laborof my hands, and rebuked thee last night. And Labanansweredand saiduntoJacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and allthatthouseest is mine: and whatcan I dothis dayunto thesemy daughters, orunto their childrenwhichthey have born? Nowtherefore comethou, let us makea covenant, Iand thou; and let it befor a witnessbetweenme and thee. And Jacobtooka stone, and set it up for a pillar. And Jacobsaidunto his brethren, Gatherstones; and they tookstones, and madean heap: and they did eatthereuponthe heap. And Labancalledit Jegar-sahadutha: but Jacobcalledit Galeed. And Labansaid, Thisheap is a witnessbetweenme and thee this day. Thereforewas the nameof it calledGaleed; And Mizpah; forhe said, The LORDwatchbetweenme and thee, whenwe are absentonefrom another. Ifthou shalt afflictmy daughters, or ifthou shalt take other wivesbesidemy daughters, noman is withus; see, God is witnessbetweenme and thee. And Labansaidto Jacob, Beholdthisheap, and behold this pillar, whichI have castbetweenme and thee; Thisheap be witness, and this pillar be witness, thatIwill notpass overthisheaptothee, and thatthoushalt notpass overthisheapand thispillaruntome, for harm. The Godof Abraham, and the Godof Nahor, the Godof their father, judgebetweenus. And Jacobsworeby the fearof his fatherIsaac. Then Jacobofferedsacrificeupon the mount, and calledhis brethrento eatbread: and they did eatbread, and tarried all nightin the mount. And early in the morningLabanrose up, and kissedhis sonsand his daughters, and blessedthem: and Labandeparted, and returnedunto his place.
