And they said, Nay; butwe will abide in the street all night. And he pressedupon them greatly; and they turned inuntohim, and enteredintohis house; and he madethem a feast, and did bakeunleavened bread, and they did eat. But beforethey lay down, the menof the city, even the menof Sodom, compassedthe houseround, both oldand young, allthe peoplefrom every quarter: And they calleduntoLot, and saidunto him, Where are the menwhichcame intothee this night? bring them outuntous, that we may knowthem. And Lotwent outat the dooruntothem, and shutthe doorafterhim, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Beholdnow, I have twodaughterswhichhave notknownman; let me, I pray you, bring them outuntoyou, and doye to them as is goodin your eyes: onlyunto thesemendonothing; forthereforecamethey under the shadowof my roof. And they said, Standback. And they said again , This one fellow came into sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: nowwill we deal worsewith thee, thanwith them. And they pressedsoreupon the man, even Lot, and came nearto breakthe door. But the menput forththeir hand, and pulledLotinto the housetothem, and shut tothe door. And they smotethe menthat were at the doorof the housewith blindness, both smalland great: so that they wearied themselvesto findthe door. And the mensaiduntoLot, Hast thou hereanybesidesa son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters? and whatsoeverthou hast in the city, bring them out ofthis place: Forwewill destroythisplace, becausethe cryof them is waxen greatbefore the faceof the LORD; and the LORDhath sentus to destroyit. And Lotwent out, and spokeuntohis sons-in-law, which marriedhis daughters, and said, Up, get you outofthisplace; forthe LORDwill destroythis city. But he seemedas one that mockeduntohis sons-in-law. And whenthe morningarose, then the angelshastenedLot, saying, Arise, takethy wife, and thy twodaughters, which are here; lestthou be consumedin the iniquityof the city. And while he lingered, the menlaid holdupon his hand, and upon the handof his wife, and upon the handof his twodaughters; the LORDbeing mercifuluntohim: and they brought him forth, and sethim withoutthe city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forthabroad, that he said, Escapeforthy life; looknotbehindthee, neitherstaythou in allthe plain; escapeto the mountain, lestthou be consumed. And Lotsaiduntothem, Oh, notso, my Lord: Beholdnow, thy servanthath foundgracein thy sight, and thou hast magnifiedthy mercy, whichthou hast showeduntome in savingmy life; and Icannotescapeto the mountain, lestsome eviltakeme, and I die: Beholdnow, thiscity is nearto fleeunto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escapethither, ( is itnota little one?) and my soulshall live. And he saiduntohim, See, I have acceptedthee concerning thisthingalso, that I will notoverthrowthis city, for the whichthou hast spoken. Hastethee, escapethither; forI cannotdoany thingtillthou be comethither. Thereforethe nameof the citywas calledZoar. The sunwas risenuponthe earthwhen Lotenteredinto Zoar. Then the LORDraineduponSodomand uponGomorrahbrimstoneand firefromthe LORDout ofheaven; And he overthrewthosecities, and allthe plain, and allthe inhabitantsof the cities, and that which grewupon the ground. But his wifelookedback from behindhim, and she becamea pillarof salt. And Abrahamgot up earlyin the morningtothe placewherehe stoodbeforethe LORD: And he lookedtowardSodomand Gomorrah, and towardallthe landof the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smokeof the countrywent upas the smokeof a furnace. And it came to pass, when Goddestroyedthe citiesof the plain, that GodrememberedAbraham, and sentLotout of the midstof the overthrow, when he overthrewthe citiesin the whichLotdwelt. And Lotwent upout of Zoar, and dweltin the mountain, and his twodaughterswithhim; forhe fearedto dwellin Zoar: and he dweltin a cave, heand his twodaughters. And the firstbornsaiduntothe younger, Our father is old, and there is nota manin the earthto come inuntous after the mannerof allthe earth: Come, let us make our fatherdrinkwine, and we will liewithhim, that we may preserveseedof our father. And they made their fatherdrinkwinethatnight: and the firstbornwent in, and laywithher father; and he perceivednotwhen she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to passon the morrow, that the firstbornsaiduntothe younger, Behold, I laylast nightwithmy father: let us make him drinkwinethis nightalso; and go thou in, and liewithhim, that we may preserveseedof our father. And they made their fatherdrinkwinethatnightalso: and the youngerarose, and laywithhim; and he perceivednotwhen she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were boththe daughtersof Lotwith childby their father. And the firstbornborea son, and calledhis nameMoab: the same is the fatherof the Moabitesuntothis day. And the younger, shealsoborea son, and calledhis nameBen-ammi: the same is the fatherof the childrenof Ammonuntothis day.
