And the LORDappeareduntohim in the plainsof Mamre: and hesatin the tentdoorin the heatof the day; And he lifted uphis eyesand looked, and, lo, threemenstoodbyhim: and when he saw them , he ranto meetthem from the tent door, and bowed himselftoward the ground, And said, My Lord, ifnowI have foundfavorin thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, fromthy servant: Let a littlewater, I pray you, be fetched, and washyour feet, and rest yourselvesunderthe tree: And I will fetcha morselof bread, and comfortye your hearts; after thatye shall pass on: forthereforeare ye cometoyour servant. And they said, Sodo, asthou hast said. And Abrahamhastenedinto the tentuntoSarah, and said, Make ready quicklythreemeasuresof finemeal, knead it , and makecakes upon the hearth. And Abrahamranuntothe herd, and fetcheda calftenderand good, and gave it untoa young man; and he hastedto dressit. And he tookbutter, and milk, and the calfwhichhe had dressed, and set it beforethem; and hestoodbythem underthe tree, and they did eat. And they saiduntohim, Where is Sarahthy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly returnuntothee according to the timeof life; and, lo, Sarahthy wifeshall have a son. And Sarahheard it in the tentdoor, which was behindhim. Now Abrahamand Sarah were old and well strickenin age; and it ceasedto bewith Sarahafter the mannerof women. Therefore Sarahlaughedwithinherself, saying, AfterI am waxed oldshall I havepleasure, my lordbeing oldalso? And the LORDsaiduntoAbraham, Whereforedid Sarahlaugh, saying, Shall I of a suretybear a child, whicham old? Is any thingtoo hardfor the LORD? At the time appointedI will returnuntothee, according to the timeof life, and Sarahshall have a son. Then Sarahdenied, saying, I laughednot; forshe was afraid. And he said, Nay; butthou didst laugh. And the menrose upfrom thence, and lookedtowardSodom: and Abrahamwentwiththem to bring them on the way. And the LORDsaid, Shall Ihidefrom Abrahamthat thing whichIdo; Seeing that Abrahamshall surely becomea greatand mightynation, and allthe nationsof the earthshall be blessedin him? ForI knowhim, thathe will commandhis childrenand his householdafterhim, and they shall keepthe wayof the LORD, to dojusticeand judgment; thatthe LORDmay bringuponAbrahamthat whichhe hath spokenofhim. And the LORDsaid, Becausethe cryof Sodomand Gomorrahis great, and becausetheir sinis verygrievous; I will go downnow, and seewhether they have donealtogetheraccording to the cryof it, which is comeuntome; and ifnot, I will know. And the menturned their facesfrom thence, and wenttoward Sodom: but Abrahamstoodyetbeforethe LORD. And Abrahamdrew near, and said, Wilt thou alsodestroythe righteouswiththe wicked? Peradventurethere befiftyrighteouswithinthe city: wilt thou alsodestroyand notsparethe placeforthe fiftyrighteousthat are therein? That be farfrom thee to doafter thismanner, to slaythe righteouswiththe wicked: and that the righteousshould beas the wicked, that be farfrom thee: Shall notthe Judgeof allthe earthdoright? And the LORDsaid, IfI findin Sodomfiftyrighteouswithinthe city, then I will spareallthe placefor their sakes. And Abrahamansweredand said, Beholdnow, I have taken uponme to speakuntothe Lord, which am but dustand ashes: Peradventurethere shall lackfiveof the fiftyrighteous: wilt thou destroyallthe cityfor lack of five? And he said, IfI findtherefortyand five, I will notdestroy it . And he spokeuntohim yetagain, and said, Peradventurethere shall be fortyfoundthere. And he said, I will notdo it for forty's sake. And he said unto him , Ohlet notthe Lordbe angry, and I will speak: Peradventurethere shall thirtybe foundthere. And he said, I will notdo it , ifI findthirtythere. And he said, Beholdnow, I have taken uponme to speakuntothe Lord: Peradventurethere shall be twentyfoundthere. And he said, I will notdestroy it for twenty's sake. And he said, Ohlet notthe Lordbe angry, and I will speakyetbut this once: Peradventuretenshall be foundthere. And he said, I will notdestroy it for ten's sake. And the LORDwent his way, as soon ashe had leftcommuningwithAbraham: and Abrahamreturnedunto his place.
