And AbramtookSaraihis wife, and Lothis brother's son, and alltheir substancethatthey had gathered, and the soulsthatthey had gottenin Haran; and they went forthto gointo the landof Canaan; and into the landof Canaanthey came. And Abrampassed throughthe landuntothe placeof Sichem, untothe plainof Moreh. And the Canaanite was thenin the land. And the LORDappeareduntoAbram, and said, Unto thy seedwill I givethisland: and therebuilthe an altarunto the LORD, who appeareduntohim. And he removedfrom thenceunto a mountainon the eastof Bethel, and pitchedhis tent, having Bethelon the west, and Haion the east: and therehe builtan altarunto the LORD, and calledupon the nameof the LORD. And Abramjourneyed, going onstilltoward the south. And there wasa faminein the land: and Abramwent downinto Egyptto sojournthere; forthe famine was grievousin the land. And it came to pass, whenhe was come nearto enterinto Egypt, that he saiduntoSaraihis wife, Beholdnow, I knowthatthou art a fairwomanto look upon: Therefore it shall come to pass, whenthe Egyptiansshall seethee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will killme, but they will save thee alive. Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: thatit may be wellwith me for thy sake; and my soulshall livebecause ofthee. And it came to pass, that, when Abramwas comeinto Egypt, the Egyptiansbeheldthe womanthatshe was veryfair. The princesalso of Pharaohsawher, and commendedher beforePharaoh: and the womanwas takeninto Pharaoh's house. And he entreated Abram wellfor her sake: and he hadsheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels. And the LORDplaguedPharaohand his housewith greatplaguesbecause ofSaraiAbram's wife. And PharaohcalledAbram, and said, What is this that thou hast doneunto me? whydidst thou nottellme thatshe was thy wife? Whysaidstthou, She is my sister? so I might have takenher to me to wife: now thereforebeholdthy wife, take her , and go thy way. And Pharaohcommanded his menconcerninghim: and they sent him away, and his wife, and allthathe had.
