They answeredhim, We beAbraham's seed, andwere never in bondageto any man: howsayestthou, Ye shall be madefree? Jesusansweredthem, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoevercommittethsinis the servant of sin. Andtheservantabidethnotinthehouseforever: but theSonabidethever. IftheSontherefore shall make you free, ye shall befreeindeed. I knowthat ye areAbraham's seed; but ye seek to killme, becausemyword hath no placeinyou. Ispeak that which I have seenwithmyFather: andyedo that which ye haveseenwithyourfather. They answeredandsaidunto him, Abrahamisourfather. Jesussaithunto them, If ye wereAbraham's children, ye would dotheworks of Abraham. Butnow ye seek to killme, a manthat hath toldyouthetruth, which I have heardofGod: thisdidnotAbraham. Yedothedeeds of your father. Thensaidthey to him, Webe notbornoffornication; we haveoneFather, even God. Jesussaidunto them, IfGodwereyourFather, ye would loveme: forI proceeded forthandcamefromGod; neithercame I ofmyself, buthesentme. Why do ye notunderstandmyspeech? even because ye cannothearmyword. Yeareof your fatherthedevil, andthelusts of yourfather ye willdo. Hewas a murdererfrom the beginning, andabodenotinthetruth, because there isnotruthinhim. When he speaketh a lie, he speakethof his own: for he is a liar, andthefather of it. AndbecauseItell you thetruth, ye believemenot. Whichofyouconvincethmeofsin? Andif I say the truth, why do yenotbelieveme? He that isofGodhearethGod's words: yethereforehear them not, because ye arenotofGod. ThenansweredtheJews, andsaidunto him, Saywenotwellthatthouarta Samaritan, andhasta devil? Jesusanswered, Ihavenot a devil; but I honormyFather, andye do dishonorme. AndIseeknot mine ownglory: there is one that seekethandjudgeth. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a mankeepmysaying, he shall neverseedeath. ThensaidtheJewsunto him, Nowwe knowthatthou hasta devil. Abrahamis dead, andtheprophets; andthousayest, Ifa mankeepmysaying, he shall nevertasteof death. Artthougreaterthan ourfatherAbraham, whichis dead? andtheprophetsare dead: whommakestthouthyself? Jesusanswered, IfIhonormyself, myhonorisnothing: it ismyFather that honorethme; of whomyesay, that he isyourGod: Yet ye have notknownhim; but I knowhim: andif I should say, Iknowhimnot, I shall be a liar like untoyou: but I knowhim, andkeephissaying. YourfatherAbrahamrejoicedtoseemyday: and he saw it, and was glad. ThensaidtheJewsuntohim, Thou artnot yetfiftyyears old, andhast thou seenAbraham? Jesussaidunto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, BeforeAbrahamwas, Iam. Thentook they upstonestocastathim: butJesushidhimself, andwentout ofthetemple, goingthroughthe midstof them, andsopassed by.
