Thenhe called his twelve disciples together, and gavethempowerandauthorityoveralldevils, andto curediseases. Andhe sentthemto preachthekingdomof God, andto healthesick. Andhe saiduntothem, Takenothingfor your journey, neitherstaves, norscrip, neitherbread, neithermoney; neitherhavetwocoatsapiece. Andwhatsoeverhouse ye enterinto, thereabide, andthencedepart. Andwhosoever will notreceiveyou, when ye go out ofthatcity, shake offtheverydustfromyourfeetfor a testimonyagainstthem. Andthey departed, and wentthroughthetowns, preaching the gospel, andhealingeverywhere. NowHerodthetetrarchheardof allthat was donebyhim: andhe was perplexed, because that it was saidofsome, thatJohnwas risenfromthe dead; Andofsome, thatElijahhad appeared; andof others, thatoneof theoldprophetswas risen again. AndHerodsaid, Johnhave Ibeheaded: butwhoisthis, ofwhomIhearsuch things? Andhe desiredto seehim. Andtheapostles, when they were returned, toldhimall thatthey had done. Andhe tookthem, and went asideprivatelyintoa desertplacebelonging to the citycalledBethsaida. Andthepeople, when they knew it, followedhim: andhe receivedthem, and spakeunto themofthekingdomof God, andhealedthem that hadneedof healing. Andwhen thedaybeganto wear away, thencamethetwelve, and saidunto him, Send the multitude away, thatthey may gointothetownsandcountryround about, and lodge, andgetvictuals: forwe arehereina desertplace. Buthe saiduntothem, Giveyethem to eat. Andtheysaid, Wehavenomorebutfiveloavesandtwofishes; exceptweshould goand buymeatforallthispeople. Forthey wereaboutfive thousandmen. Andthey did eat, andwere allfilled: andthere was taken upof fragmentsthat remainedto themtwelvebaskets. Andit came to pass, as hewasalonepraying, his discipleswere withhim: andhe askedthem, saying, Whomsaythepeople that Iam? Theyansweringsaid, JohntheBaptist; butsome say, Elijah; andothers say, thatoneof theoldprophetsis risen again. He saidunto them, Butwhomsayye that Iam? Peteransweringsaid, TheChristof God. Andhestraitly chargedthem, and commanded them to tellno manthat thing; Saying, TheSon of manmustsuffer many things, and be rejectedoftheeldersand chief priestsandscribes, and be slain, and be raisedthethirdday. Andhe saidto them all, Ifany man willcomeafterme, let him denyhimself, and take uphiscrossdaily, andfollowme. Forwhosoeverwillsavehislife shall loseit: butwhosoever will losehislife for my sake, the same shall saveit. Forwhat is a manadvantaged, if he gainthewholeworld, andlosehimself, or be cast away? Forwhosoever shall be ashamed of meand of mywords, of him shall theSon of man be ashamed, when he shall comein his ownglory, and in his Father's, and of theholyangels. But I tellyou of a truth, there besomestandinghere, which shall nottaste of death, till they seethekingdom of God. Andwhen thevoicewas past, Jesuswas foundalone. Andtheykept it close, andtoldno maninthosedaysany of those thingswhichthey had seen. Andit came to pass, that onthenextday, when theywere come downfromthehill, muchpeoplemethim. And, behold, a manofthecompanycried out, saying, Master, I beseechthee, lookuponmyson: forhe ismineonly child. Buttheyunderstood notthissaying, andit washidfromthem, thatthey perceiveditnot: andthey fearedto askhimofthatsaying. Thenthere arosea reasoningamongthem, whichof themshould begreatest. Andwhen hisdisciplesJamesandJohnsaw this, they said, Lord, wiltthou that we commandfireto come downfromheaven, andconsumethem, evenasElijahdid? Buthe turned, and rebukedthem, andsaid, Ye knownot what manner of spirityeare of. FortheSon of man is notcome to destroymen's lives, but to save them. Andthey wenttoanothervillage. Andit came to pass, that, as theywentintheway, a certain man saiduntohim, Lord, I will followtheewhithersoeverthou goest.
