Forthekingdom of heavenis like unto a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hirelaborersintohisvineyard. And when he had agreedwiththelaborersfor a penny a day, he sentthemintohisvineyard. And he went outaboutthethirdhour, and sawothersstandingidleinthemarketplace, And said unto them; Goyealsointothevineyard, andwhatsoeverisright I will giveyou. Andthey went their way. Again he went outabout the sixthandninthhour, and didlikewise. Andabouttheeleventhhour he went out, and foundothersstandingidle, andsaith unto them, Whystand ye hereallthedayidle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hiredus. He saith unto them, Goyealsointothevineyard; andwhatsoeverisright, that shall ye receive. So when even was come, thelord of thevineyard saith unto hissteward, Callthelaborers, andgivethem their hire, beginningfromthelastuntothefirst. And when they camethat were hired abouttheeleventhhour, they received every man a penny. But when thefirstcame, they supposedthat they should have receivedmore; andtheylikewisereceived every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmuredagainstthe goodman of the house, Saying, Theselast have wrought but onehour, and thou hast madethemequal unto us, which have bornetheburdenandheat of theday. Butheansweredone of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: Iwillgive unto thislast, evenas unto thee. Is it not lawful for me to dowhat I willwith mine own? Isthineeyeevil, becauseIamgood? Sothelast shall befirst, andthefirstlast: formanybecalled, butfewchosen. AndJesusgoing uptoJerusalemtookthetwelvedisciplesapartintheway, andsaidunto them, Behold, we go uptoJerusalem: andtheSon of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priestsand unto the scribes, and they shall condemnhim to death, And shall deliverhim to theGentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him : andthethirdday he shall rise again. Thencameto himthemotherof Zebedee's childrenwithhersons, worshiping him, anddesiringa certain thingofhim. Andhesaidunto her, Whatwilt thou? She saithunto him, Grantthatthesemytwosonsmay sit, the oneonthyright hand, andthe otheronthe left, inthykingdom. ButJesusansweredand said, Ye knownotwhat ye ask. Are ye able to drink of thecupthatIshalldrink of, and to be baptized with thebaptismthatI am baptized with? They sayunto him, We are able. Andhe saithunto them, Ye shall drinkindeed of mycup, and be baptized with thebaptismthatI am baptized with: but to sitonmy right hand, andonmyleft, isnotmine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is preparedofmyFather. Andwhen thetenheard it, they were moved with indignationagainstthetwobrethren. ButJesuscalledthem unto him, and said, Ye knowthattheprinces of theGentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall notbesoamongyou: butwhosoeverwillbegreatamongyou, let him beyourminister; Andwhosoeverwillbechiefamongyou, let him beyourservant: Even astheSon of mancamenot to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to givehislife a ransomformany. Andas theydepartedfromJericho, a greatmultitudefollowedhim. And, behold, twoblind mensittingbytheway side, when they heardthatJesuspassed by, cried out, saying, Have mercyon us, O Lord, thou sonof David. Andthemultituderebukedthem, becausethey should hold their peace: buttheycriedthe more, saying, Have mercyon us, O Lord, thou sonof David. AndJesusstood still, and calledthem, andsaid, Whatwill ye that I shall do unto you? They sayunto him, Lord, thatoureyesmay be opened. SoJesushad compassion on them, and touchedtheireyes: andimmediatelytheireyesreceived sight, andthey followedhim.
