In the eighthmonth, in the secondyearof Darius, camethe wordof the LORDuntoZechariah, the sonof Berechiah, the sonof Iddothe prophet, saying, The LORDhath been sore displeasedwithyour fathers. Therefore saythou untothem, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts; Turnye untome, saiththe LORDof hosts, and I will turnuntoyou, saiththe LORDof hosts. Beye notas your fathers, untowhomthe formerprophetshave cried, saying, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts; Turnye nowfrom your evilways, and from your evildoings: but they did nothear, norhearkenuntome, saiththe LORD. Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they liveforever? Butmy wordsand my statutes, whichI commandedmy servantsthe prophets, did they nottake holdof your fathers? and they returnedand said, Like asthe LORDof hoststhoughtto dounto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, sohath he dealtwithus. Upon the fourand twentiethdayof the eleventhmonth, which is the monthSebat, in the secondyearof Darius, camethe wordof the LORDuntoZechariah, the sonof Berechiah, the sonof Iddothe prophet, saying, I sawby night, and beholda manridingupona redhorse, and hestoodamongthe myrtle treesthat were in the bottom; and behindhim were there redhorses, speckled, and white. Then saidI, O my lord, what are these? And the angelthat talkedwith me saiduntome, Iwill showthee whatthese be . And the manthat stoodamongthe myrtle treesansweredand said, These are they whomthe LORDhath sentto walk to and frothrough the earth. And they answeredthe angelof the LORDthat stoodamongthe myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and frothrough the earth, and, behold, allthe earthsitteth still, and is at rest. Then the angelof the LORDansweredand said, O LORDof hosts, how longwilt thounothave mercy onJerusalemand on the citiesof Judah, against whichthou hast had indignationthesethreescore and tenyears? And the LORDansweredthe angelthat talkedwith me with goodwords and comfortablewords. So the angelthat communedwith me saiduntome, Crythou, saying, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts; I am jealousfor Jerusalemand for Zionwith a greatjealousy. And Iam verysore displeasedwiththe heathen that are at ease: forIwas but a littledispleased, and theyhelpedforward the affliction. Thereforethussaiththe LORD; I am returnedto Jerusalemwith mercies: my houseshall be builtin it, saiththe LORDof hosts, and a lineshall be stretched forthuponJerusalem. Cryyet, saying, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts; My citiesthrough prosperityshall yetbe spread abroad; and the LORDshall yetcomfortZion, and shall yetchooseJerusalem. Then lifted I upmine eyes, and saw, and beholdfourhorns. And I saiduntothe angelthat talkedwith me, What be these? And he answeredme, These are the hornswhichhave scatteredJudah, Israel, and Jerusalem. And the LORDshowedme fourcarpenters. Then saidI, Whatcometheseto do? And he spoke, saying, These are the hornswhichhave scatteredJudah, so that nomandid lift uphis head: but theseare cometo frightenthem, to cast outthe hornsof the Gentiles, which lifted up their hornoverthe landof Judahto scatterit.
