Hearye nowwhatthe LORDsaith; Arise, contendthou beforethe mountains, and let the hillshearthy voice. Hearye, O mountains, the LORD's controversy, and ye strongfoundationsof the earth: forthe LORDhath a controversywithhis people, and he will pleadwithIsrael. O my people, whathave I doneunto thee? and whereinhave I weariedthee? testifyagainst me. ForI brought thee upout of the landof Egypt, and redeemedthee out of the houseof servants; and I sentbeforethee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. O my people, remembernowwhatBalakkingof Moabconsulted, and whatBalaamthe sonof Beoransweredhim fromShittimuntoGilgal; thatye may knowthe righteousnessof the LORD. Wherewithshall I come beforethe LORD, and bow myselfbefore the highGod? shall I come beforehim with burnt offerings, with calvesof a yearold? Will the LORDbe pleasedwith thousandsof rams, or with ten thousandsof riversof oil? shall I givemy firstborn for my transgression, the fruitof my body for the sinof my soul? He hath showedthee, O man, what is good; and whatdoth the LORDrequireofthee, butto dojustly, and to lovemercy, and to walkhumblywiththy God? The LORD's voicecriethunto the city, and the man of wisdomshall seethy name: hearye the rod, and whohath appointedit. Are thereyetthe treasuresof wickednessin the houseof the wicked, and the scantmeasure that is abominable? Shall I count them purewith the wickedbalances, and with the bagof deceitfulweights? Forthe rich menthereof are fullof violence, and the inhabitantsthereof have spokenlies, and their tongue is deceitfulin their mouth. Therefore alsowill Imake thee sickin smitingthee, in making thee desolatebecause ofthy sins. Thoushalt eat, but notbe satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midstof thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt notdeliver; and that whichthou deliverestwill I give upto the sword. Thoushalt sow, but thou shalt notreap; thoushalt treadthe olives, but thou shalt notanointthee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt notdrinkwine. For the statutesof Omriare kept, and allthe worksof the houseof Ahab, and ye walkin their counsels; thatI should makethee a desolation, and the inhabitantsthereof a hissing: therefore ye shall bearthe reproachof my people.
