Come, and let us returnuntothe LORD: forhehath torn, and he will healus; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two dayswill he reviveus: in the thirddayhe will raise us up, and we shall livein his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow onto knowthe LORD: his going forthis preparedas the morning; and he shall comeunto us as the rain, as the latter and former rainunto the earth. O Ephraim, whatshall I dounto thee? O Judah, whatshall I dounto thee? for your goodness is as a morningcloud, and as the earlydewit goeth away. Thereforehave I hewed them by the prophets; I have slainthem by the wordsof my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth. ForI desiredmercy, and notsacrifice; and the knowledgeof Godmore than burnt offerings. But theylike menhave transgressedthe covenant: therehave they dealt treacherouslyagainst me. Gilead is a cityof them that workiniquity, and is pollutedwith blood. And as troops of robberswaitfor a man, so the companyof priestsmurderin the wayby consent: forthey commitlewdness. I have seena horrible thingin the houseof Israel: there is the whoredomof Ephraim, Israelis defiled. Also, O Judah, he hath seta harvestfor thee, when I returnedthe captivityof my people.
