Moreover take thou upa lamentationforthe princesof Israel, And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay downamonglions, she nourishedher whelpsamongyoung lions. And she brought uponeof her whelps: it becamea young lion, and it learnedto catchthe prey; it devouredmen. The nationsalso heardofhim; he was takenin their pit, and they broughthim with chainsuntothe landof Egypt. Now when she sawthatshe had waited, and her hopewas lost, then she tookanotherof her whelps, and madehim a young lion. And he went up and downamongthe lions, he becamea young lion, and learnedto catchthe prey, and devouredmen. And he knewtheir desolate palaces, and he laid wastetheir cities; and the landwas desolate, and the fullnessthereof, by the noiseof his roaring. Then the nationssetagainsthim on every sidefrom the provinces, and spreadtheir netoverhim: he was takenin their pit. And they puthim in wardin chains, and broughthim tothe kingof Babylon: they broughthim into holds, thathis voiceshould nomorebe hearduponthe mountainsof Israel. Thy mother is like a vinein thy blood, plantedbythe waters: she wasfruitfuland full of branchesby reason of manywaters. And she hadstrongrodsforthe sceptersof them that bore rule, and her staturewas exaltedamongthe thick branches, and she appearedin her heightwith the multitudeof her branches. But she was plucked upin fury, she was cast downto the ground, and the eastwinddried upher fruit: her strongrodswere brokenand withered; the fireconsumedthem. And nowshe is plantedin the wilderness, in a dryand thirstyground. And fireis gone outof a rodof her branches, which hath devouredher fruit, so that she hathnostrongrod to be a scepterto rule. This is a lamentation, and shall befor a lamentation.
