In thosedayswas Hezekiah sickunto death. And Isaiahthe prophetthe sonof Amozcameuntohim, and saiduntohim, Thussaiththe LORD, Set thine house in order: forthoushalt die, and notlive. Then Hezekiahturnedhis facetowardthe wall, and prayeduntothe LORD, And said, Remembernow, O LORD, I beseech thee, howI have walkedbeforethee in truthand with a perfectheart, and have done that which is goodin thy sight. And Hezekiahweptsore. Then camethe wordof the LORDtoIsaiah, saying, Go, and saytoHezekiah, Thussaiththe LORD, the Godof Davidthy father, I have heardthy prayer, I have seenthy tears: behold, I will adduntothy daysfifteenyears. And I will deliverthee and thiscityout of the handof the kingof Assyria: and I will defendthiscity. And this shall be a signunto thee fromthe LORD, thatthe LORDwill dothisthingthathe hath spoken; Behold, I will bring againthe shadowof the degrees, whichis gone downin the sundialof Ahaz, tendegreesbackward. So the sunreturnedtendegrees, by whichdegreesit was gone down. The writingof Hezekiahkingof Judah, when he had been sick, and was recoveredof his sickness: Isaidin the cutting offof my days, I shall goto the gatesof the grave: I am deprivedof the residueof my years. I said, I shall notseethe LORD, even the LORD, in the landof the living: I shall beholdmannomorewiththe inhabitantsof the world. Mine ageis departed, and is removedfromme as a shepherd's tent: I have cut offlike a weavermy life: he will cut me offwith pining sickness: from day even tonightwilt thou make an endof me. I reckonedtillmorning, that , as a lion, sowill he breakallmy bones: from day even tonightwilt thou make an endof me. Like a crane or a swallow, sodid I chatter: I did mournas a dove: mine eyesfail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertakefor me. Whatshall I say? he hath both spokenunto me, and himselfhath done it : I shall go softlyallmy yearsinthe bitternessof my soul. O Lord, bythese things men live, and in allthese things is the lifeof my spirit: so wilt thou recoverme, and make me to live. Behold, for peaceI had great bitterness: but thouhast in loveto my soul delivered it from the pitof corruption: forthou hast castallmy sinsbehindthy back. Forthe gravecannotpraisethee, deathcan not celebratethee: they that go downinto the pitcannothopeforthy truth. The living, the living, heshall praisethee, as I do this day: the fatherto the childrenshall make knownthy truth. The LORD was ready to saveme: therefore we will sing my songsto the stringed instrumentsallthe daysof our lifeinthe houseof the LORD. For Isaiahhad said, Let them takea lumpof figs, and lay it for a plasteruponthe boil, and he shall recover. Hezekiahalso had said, What is the signthatI shall go upto the houseof the LORD?
