A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORDmy strength, which teachethmy handsto war, and my fingersto fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subduethmy peopleunderme. LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledgeof him! or the sonof man, that thou makest accountof him! Manis liketo vanity: his days are as a shadowthat passeth away. Bowthy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touchthe mountains, and they shall smoke. Cast forthlightning, and scatterthem: shoot outthine arrows, and destroythem. Sendthine handfrom above; ridme, and deliverme out of greatwaters, from the handof strangechildren; Whosemouthspeakethvanity, and their right hand is a right handof falsehood. I will singa newsongunto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten stringswill I sing praisesunto thee. It is he that givethsalvationunto kings: who deliverethDavidhis servantfrom the hurtfulsword. Ridme, and deliverme from the handof strangechildren, whosemouthspeakethvanity, and their right hand is a right handof falsehood: Thatour sons may be as plantsgrown upin their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitudeof a palace: That our garners may be full, affordingall manner of store: that our sheepmay bring forth thousandsand ten thousandsin our streets: That our oxen may be strong to labor; that there be nobreaking in, norgoing out; that there be nocomplainingin our streets. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea , happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
