Now the Philistinesgathered togetheralltheir armiesto Aphek: and the Israelitespitchedby a fountainwhich is in Jezreel. And the lordsof the Philistinespassed onby hundreds, and by thousands: but Davidand his menpassed onin the rearwardwithAchish. Then saidthe princesof the Philistines, What do theseHebrews here ? And Achishsaiduntothe princesof the Philistines, Is notthisDavid, the servantof Saulthe kingof Israel, whichhath beenwithme thesedays, ortheseyears, and I have foundnofaultin him sincehe fell unto me untothisday? And the princesof the Philistineswere wrothwithhim; and the princesof the Philistinessaidunto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go againtohis placewhichthou hast appointedhim, and let him notgo downwithus to battle, lestin the battlehe bean adversaryto us: for wherewithshould he reconcilehimselfuntohis master? should it not be with the headsof thesemen? Is notthisDavid, of whomthey sangone to another in dances, saying, Saulslewhis thousands, and Davidhis ten thousands? Then AchishcalledDavid, and saiduntohim, Surely, as the LORDliveth, thouhast been upright, and thy going outand thy coming inwithme in the host is goodin my sight: forI have notfoundevilin thee since the dayof thy cominguntome untothisday: nevertheless the lordsfavortheenot. Wherefore nowreturn, and goin peace, that thou displeasenotthe lordsof the Philistines. And DavidsaiduntoAchish, Butwhathave I done? and whathast thou foundin thy servantso longasI have beenwiththee untothisday, thatI may notgofightagainst the enemiesof my lordthe king? And Achishansweredand saidtoDavid, I knowthatthou art goodin my sight, as an angelof God: notwithstandingthe princesof the Philistineshave said, He shall notgo upwithus to the battle. Wherefore nowrise up earlyin the morningwith thy master's servantsthatare comewiththee: and as soon as ye be up earlyin the morning, and have light, depart. So Davidand his menrose up earlyto departin the morning, to returnintothe landof the Philistines. And the Philistineswent upto Jezreel.
