Forifthewordspokenbyangelswassteadfast, andeverytransgressionanddisobediencereceiveda justrecompense of reward; Howshall weescape, if we neglectso greatsalvation; whichat the first beganto be spokenbytheLord, andwas confirmeduntousbythem that heard him ; Godalso bearing them witness, bothwith signsandwonders, andwith diversmiracles, andgiftsof the HolyGhost, accordingto his ownwill? Forunto the angelshath he notput in subjectiontheworldto come, whereofwe speak. Butonein a certain placetestified, saying, Whatisman, thatthou art mindfulof him? orthe sonof man, thatthou visitesthim? Thou madesthima little lowerthanthe angels; thou crownedsthimwith gloryandhonor, anddidst sethimovertheworksof thyhands: Thou hast put all things in subjectionunderhisfeet. Forin that he put all in subjection underhim, he leftnothing that is not put underhim. Butnowwe seenot yetall thingsput underhim. Butwe seeJesus, who was made a little lowerthanthe angelsforthesufferingof death, crownedwith gloryandhonor; thathe by the graceof Godshould tastedeathforevery man. Forbothhe that sanctifiethandthey who are sanctified are allofone: forwhichcausehe is notashamedto callthembrethren, Saying, I will declarethynameunto mybrethren, inthe midstof the churchwill I sing praiseunto thee. Andagain, Iwill put my trustinhim. Andagain, BeholdIandthechildrenwhichGodhath givenme. Forasmuchthenas thechildrenare partakersof fleshandblood, healsohimself likewisetook partof thesame; thatthroughdeathhe might destroyhim that hadthepowerof death, that is, thedevil; Anddeliverthemwhothrough fearof deathwerealltheirlifetimesubject tobondage. Forverilyhe took not on him the nature of angels; buthe took on him the seedof Abraham. Whereforeinall thingsit behoovedhim to be made like unto his brethren, thathe might bea mercifulandfaithfulhigh priestin things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation forthesinsof thepeople.
