Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the wordsof my mouth. My doctrineshall dropas the rain, my speechshall distillas the dew, as the small rainuponthe tender herb, and as the showersuponthe grass: BecauseI will publishthe nameof the LORD: ascribeye greatnessunto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: forallhis ways are judgment: a Godof truthand withoutiniquity, justand right is he. They have corruptedthemselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverseand crookedgeneration. Do ye thusrequitethe LORD, O foolishpeopleand unwise? is nothethy father that hath boughtthee? hath henot madethee, and establishedthee? Rememberthe daysof old, considerthe yearsof many generations: askthy father, and he will showthee; thy elders, and they will tellthee. When the most Highdividedto the nationstheir inheritance, when he separatedthe sonsof Adam, he setthe boundsof the peopleaccording to the numberof the childrenof Israel. Forthe LORD's portion is his people; Jacob is the lotof his inheritance. He foundhim in a desertland, and in the wastehowlingwilderness; he led him about, he instructedhim, he kepthim as the appleof his eye. As an eaglestirreth upher nest, flutterethoverher young, spreadeth abroadher wings, takeththem, beareththem onher wings: So the LORDalonedid leadhim, and there was nostrangegodwithhim. He made him rideonthe high placesof the earth, that he might eatthe increaseof the fields; and he made him to suckhoneyout of the rock, and oilout of the flintyrock; Butterof kine, and milkof sheep, withfatof lambs, and ramsof the breedof Bashan, and goats, withthe fatof kidneysof wheat; and thou didst drinkthe purebloodof the grape. But Jeshurunwaxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness ; then he forsookGod which madehim, and lightly esteemedthe Rockof his salvation. They provoked him to jealousywith strange gods , with abominationsprovoked they him to anger. They sacrificedunto devils, notto God; to godswhom they knewnot, to new gods that camenewly up, whom your fathersfearednot. Of the Rock that begotthee thou art unmindful, and hast forgottenGodthat formedthee. And when the LORDsaw it , he abhorred them , because of the provokingof his sons, and of his daughters. And he said, I will hidemy facefromthem, I will seewhattheir end shall be : forthey are a very frowardgeneration, childrenin whom is nofaith. Theyhave moved me to jealousywith that which is notGod; they have provoked me to angerwith their vanities: and Iwill move them to jealousywith those which are nota people; I will provoke them to angerwith a foolishnation. Fora fireis kindledin mine anger, and shall burnuntothe lowesthell, and shall consumethe earthwith her increase, and set on firethe foundationsof the mountains. I will heapmischiefsuponthem; I will spendmine arrowsupon them. They shall be burntwith hunger, and devouredwith burning heat, and with bitterdestruction: I will also sendthe teethof beastsupon them, withthe poisonof serpentsof the dust. The swordwithout, and terrorwithin, shall destroyboththe young manandthe virgin, the suckling also withthe manof gray hairs. I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembranceof them to ceasefrom among men: Were it not thatI fearedthe wrathof the enemy, lesttheir adversariesshould behave themselves strangely, and lestthey should say, Our hand is high, and the LORDhath notdoneallthis. Forthey are a nationvoidof counsel, neither is there any understandingin them. O thatthey were wise, that they understoodthis, that they would considertheir latter end! Howshould onechasea thousand, and twoputten thousandto flight, excepttheir Rockhad soldthem, and the LORDhad shut them up? Fortheir rock is notas our Rock, even our enemiesthemselves being judges. Fortheir vine is of the vineof Sodom, and of the fieldsof Gomorrah: their grapes are grapesof gall, their clusters are bitter: Their wine is the poisonof dragons, and the cruelvenomof asps. Is notthislaid up in storewithme and sealed upamong my treasures? To me belongeth vengeance, and recompense; their footshall slidein due time: forthe dayof their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall comeupon them make haste. Forthe LORDshall judgehis people, and repent himselfforhis servants, whenhe seeththat their poweris gone, and there is noneshut up, or left. And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rockin whom they trusted, Whichdid eatthe fatof their sacrifices, and drankthe wineof their drink offerings? let them rise upand helpyou, and beyour protection. SeenowthatI, even I, am he, and there is nogodwithme: Ikill, and I make alive; I wound, and Iheal: neither is there any that can deliverout of my hand. ForI lift upmy handtoheaven, and say, Iliveforever. IfI whetmy glitteringsword, and mine handtake holdon judgment; I will rendervengeanceto mine enemies, and will rewardthem that hateme. I will make mine arrowsdrunkwith blood, and my swordshall devourflesh; and that with the bloodof the slainand of the captives, from the beginningof revengesupon the enemy. Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: forhe will avengethe bloodof his servants, and will rendervengeanceto his adversaries, and will be mercifulunto his land, and to his people. And Mosescameand spokeallthe wordsof thissongin the earsof the people, he, and Hosheathe sonof Nun. And Mosesmade an endof speakingallthesewordstoallIsrael: And he saiduntothem, Setyour heartsunto allthe wordswhichItestifyamong you this day, whichye shall commandyour childrento observeto do, allthe wordsof thislaw. Forit is nota vainthingforyou; becauseit is your life: and through thisthingye shall prolong your daysinthe land, whitheryego overJordanto possessit. And the LORDspokeuntoMosesthatselfsameday, saying, Get thee upintothismountainAbarim, unto mountNebo, which is in the landof Moab, that is overagainstJericho; and beholdthe landof Canaan, whichIgiveunto the childrenof Israelfor a possession: And diein the mountwhitherthougoest up, and be gathereduntothy people; asAaronthy brotherdiedin mountHor, and was gathereduntohis people: Becauseye trespassedagainst me amongthe childrenof Israelat the watersof Meribah-Kadesh, in the wildernessof Zin; becauseye sanctifiedme notin the midstof the childrenof Israel. Yetthou shalt seethe landbefore thee ; but thou shalt notgothitheruntothe landwhichIgivethe childrenof Israel.
