AndJesusansweredand spakeunto themagainbyparables, and said, Thekingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, whichmade a marriage for hisson. And sent forthhisservants to call them that were biddentothewedding: and they wouldnotcome. Again, he sent forthotherservants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have preparedmydinner: myoxenand my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: comeuntothemarriage. Butthey made light of it, and went their ways, onetohisfarm, anothertohismerchandise: Andtheremnanttookhisservants, and entreated them spitefully, andslew them. But when thekingheard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forthhisarmies, and destroyedthosemurderers, and burned uptheircity. Thensaith he to hisservants, Theweddingisready, but they which were biddenwerenotworthy. Go ye thereforeintothehighways, and as many as ye shall find, bidtothemarriage. Sothoseservants went outintothehighways, and gathered togetherall as many as they found, bothbadandgood: andthewedding was furnished with guests. And when theking came in to seetheguests, he sawthere a man which had not on a weddinggarment: And he saith unto him, Friend, howcamest thou in hithernothaving a weddinggarment? Andhe was speechless. Thensaidtheking to theservants, Bindhimhandandfoot, and take him away, andcast him intoouterdarkness; there shall beweepingandgnashing of teeth. Formanyarecalled, butfew are chosen. ThenwentthePharisees, andtookcounselhowthey might entanglehimin his talk. Andthey sent outunto himtheirdiscipleswiththeHerodians, saying, Master, we knowthatthou arttrue, andteachestthewayof Godintruth, neithercarestthouforany man : forthou regardestnotthepersonof men. Tellustherefore, Whatthinkestthou? Is it lawfulto givetributeunto Caesar, ornot? ButJesusperceivedtheirwickedness, and said, Whytempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Showmethetributemoney. Andtheybroughtunto hima penny. Andhe saithunto them, Whose is thisimageandsuperscription? They sayunto him, Caesar's. Thensaithhe unto them, Rendertherefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. When they had heard these words, they marveled, andlefthim, and went their way. The samedaycameto himthe Sadducees, which saythat there isnoresurrection, andaskedhim, Saying, Master, Mosessaid, Ifa mandie, havingnochildren, hisbrothershall marryhiswife, andraise upseedunto hisbrother. Nowthere werewithussevenbrethren: andthefirst, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, havingnoissue, lefthiswifeunto hisbrother: Likewisethesecondalso, andthethird, untotheseventh. Andlastof allthewomandiedalso. Thereforeintheresurrectionwhosewifeshall she beof theseven? forthey allhadher. Jesusansweredand saidunto them, Ye do err, notknowingtheScriptures, northepower of God. Forintheresurrection they neithermarry, nor are given in marriage, butareas the angels of Godinheaven. But as touchingtheresurrection of thedead, have ye notread that which was spoken unto youbyGod, saying, IamtheGod of Abraham, andtheGod of Isaac, andtheGod of JacobGodisnot the God of the dead, but of the living. Andwhen themultitudeheard this, they were astonishedathisdoctrine. Butwhen thePhariseeshad heardthathe had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gatheredtogether. Thenoneofthem, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, temptinghim, andsaying, Master, which is the greatcommandmentinthelaw? Jesussaidunto him, Thou shalt love the LordthyGodwithallthyheart, andwithallthysoul, andwithallthymind. Thisis the firstandgreatcommandment. And the second is like untoit, Thou shalt lovethyneighborasthyself. Onthesetwocommandmentshangallthelawandtheprophets. WhilethePhariseeswere gathered together, Jesusaskedthem, Saying, WhatthinkyeofChrist? whosesonis he? They sayunto him, The son of David. He saithunto them, Howthen doth DavidinspiritcallhimLord, saying, TheLORDsaid unto myLord, Sit thou onmy right hand, till I makethineenemiesthyfootstool? IfDavidthencallhim, Lord, howis he hisson? Andno manwas ableto answerhima word, neitherdurstany man fromthatdayforth askhimany more questions.
