My son, attendunto my wisdom, and bowthine earto my understanding: That thou mayest regarddiscretion, and that thy lipsmay keepknowledge. Forthe lipsof a strange womandrop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smootherthan oil: But her endis bitteras wormwood, sharpas a twoedgedsword. Her feetgo downto death; her stepstake holdon hell. Lestthou shouldest ponderthe pathof life, her waysare movable, that thou canst notknow them . Hearme nowtherefore, O ye children, and departnotfrom the wordsof my mouth. Remove thy way farfromher, and come not nighthe doorof her house: Lestthou givethine honorunto others, and thy yearsunto the cruel: Leststrangersbe filledwith thy wealth; and thy labors be in the houseof a stranger; And thou mournat the last, when thy fleshand thy bodyare consumed, And say, Howhave I hatedinstruction, and my heartdespisedreproof; And have notobeyedthe voiceof my teachers, norinclinedmine earto them that instructedme! I wasalmostin allevilin the midstof the congregationand assembly. Drinkwatersout of thine own cistern, and running watersout ofthine own well. Let thy fountainsbe dispersedabroad, and riversof watersin the streets. Let them beonlythine own, and notstrangers' withthee. Let thy fountainbeblessed: and rejoicewith the wifeof thy youth. Let her be as the lovinghindand pleasantroe; let her breastssatisfythee at alltimes; and be thou ravishedalwayswith her love. And whywilt thou, my son, be ravishedwith a strange woman, and embracethe bosomof a stranger? Forthe waysof man are beforethe eyesof the LORD, and he ponderethallhis goings. His own iniquitiesshall takethe wickedhimself, and he shall be holdenwith the cordsof his sins. Heshall diewithoutinstruction; and in the greatnessof his follyhe shall go astray.
