And in the seventhyearJehoiadastrengthened himself, and tookthe captainsof hundreds, Azariahthe sonof Jeroham, and Ishmaelthe sonof Jehohanan, and Azariahthe sonof Obed, and Maaseiahthe sonof Adaiah, and Elishaphatthe sonof Zichri, into covenantwithhim. And they went aboutin Judah, and gatheredthe Levitesout of allthe citiesof Judah, and the chiefof the fathersof Israel, and they cametoJerusalem. And allthe congregationmadea covenantwiththe kingin the houseof God. And he saidunto them, Behold, the king's sonshall reign, asthe LORDhath saidofthe sonsof David. This is the thingthatye shall do; A third partofyou enteringon the sabbath, of the priestsand of the Levites, shall be portersof the doors; And a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third partat the gateof the foundation: and allthe people shall be in the courtsof the houseof the LORD. But let nonecomeinto the houseof the LORD, savethe priests, and they that ministerof the Levites; theyshall go in, forthey are holy: but allthe peopleshall keepthe watchof the LORD. And the Levitesshall compassthe kinground about, every manwith his weaponsin his hand; and whosoever else comethintothe house, he shall be put to death: but beye withthe kingwhen he cometh in, and when he goeth out. So the Levitesand allJudahdidaccording to all thingsthatJehoiadathe priesthad commanded, and tookevery manhis menthat were to come inon the sabbath, withthem that were to go out on the sabbath: forJehoiadathe priestdismissednotthe courses. Moreover Jehoiadathe priestdeliveredto the captainsof hundredsspears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been kingDavid's, which were in the houseof God. And he setallthe people, every manhaving his weaponin his hand, from the rightsideof the templetothe leftsideof the temple, along by the altarand the temple, bythe kinground about. Then they brought outthe king's son, and putuponhim the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiadaand his sonsanointedhim, and said, God savethe king. Now when Athaliahheardthe noiseof the peoplerunningand praisingthe king, she cametothe peopleinto the houseof the LORD: And she looked, and, behold, the kingstoodathis pillarat the entering in, and the princesand the trumpetsbythe king: and allthe peopleof the landrejoiced, and soundedwith trumpets, also the singerswith instrumentsof music, and such as taughtto sing praise. Then Athaliahrenther clothes, and said, Treason, Treason. Then Jehoiadathe priestbrought outthe captainsof hundredsthat were set overthe host, and saiduntothem, Have her forthof the ranges: and whoso followethher, let him be slainwith the sword. Forthe priestsaid, Slayher notin the houseof the LORD. So they laidhandson her; and when she was cometothe enteringof the horsegateby the king's house, they slewher there. And Jehoiadamadea covenantbetweenhim, and betweenallthe people, and betweenthe king, that they should bethe LORD's people. Then allthe peoplewent tothe houseof Baal, and broke it down, and broke his altarsand his imagesin pieces, and slewMattanthe priestof Baalbeforethe altars. Also Jehoiadaappointedthe officesof the houseof the LORDby the handof the prieststhe Levites, whomDavidhad distributedinthe houseof the LORD, to offerthe burnt offeringsof the LORD, as it is writtenin the lawof Moses, with rejoicingand with singing, as it was ordained byDavid. And he setthe portersatthe gatesof the houseof the LORD, that none which was uncleanin anythingshould enter in. And he tookthe captainsof hundreds, and the nobles, and the governorsof the people, and allthe peopleof the land, and brought downthe kingfrom the houseof the LORD: and they camethroughthe highgateinto the king's house, and setthe kinguponthe throneof the kingdom. And allthe peopleof the landrejoiced: and the citywas quiet, after that they had slainAthaliahwith the sword.
