And he said, It is Elijahthe Tishbite. Then the king sentuntohim a captainof fiftywith his fifty. And he went uptohim: and, behold, he satonthe topof a hill. And he spokeuntohim, Thou manof God, the kinghath said, Come down. And Elijahansweredand saidtothe captainof fifty, IfI be a manof God, then let firecome downfromheaven, and consumethee and thy fifty. And there came downfirefromheaven, and consumedhim and his fifty. Againalso he sentuntohim anothercaptainof fiftywith his fifty. And he answeredand saiduntohim, O manof God, thushath the kingsaid, Come downquickly. And the thirdcaptainof fiftywent up, and cameand fellonhis kneesbeforeElijah, and besoughthim, and saiduntohim, O manof God, I pray thee, let my life, and the lifeof thesefiftythy servants, be preciousin thy sight. Behold, there came fire downfromheaven, and burnt upthe twocaptainsof the formerfiftieswith their fifties: therefore let my lifenowbe preciousin thy sight. And the angelof the LORDsaiduntoElijah, Go downwithhim: be not afraidofhim. And he arose, and went downwithhim untothe king.
