Now Jerichowas straitly shut upbecauseof the childrenof Israel: nonewent out, and nonecame in. And the LORDsaiduntoJoshua, See, I have giveninto thine handJericho, and the kingthereof, and the mightymen of valor. And ye shall compassthe city, all ye menof war, and go round aboutthe cityonce. Thusshalt thou dosixdays. And sevenpriestsshall bearbeforethe arkseventrumpetsof rams' horns: and the seventhdayye shall compassthe cityseventimes, and the priestsshall blowwith the trumpets. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blastwith the ram's horn, and when ye hearthe soundof the trumpet, allthe peopleshall shoutwith a greatshout; and the wallof the cityshall fall downflat, and the peopleshall ascend upevery manstraight beforehim. And Joshuathe sonof Nuncalledthe priests, and saiduntothem, Take upthe arkof the covenant, and letsevenpriestsbearseventrumpetsof rams' hornsbeforethe arkof the LORD. And he saiduntothe people, Pass on, and compassthe city, and let him that is armedpass onbeforethe arkof the LORD. And it came to pass, when Joshuahad spokenuntothe people, that the sevenpriestsbearingthe seventrumpetsof rams' hornspassed onbeforethe LORD, and blewwith the trumpets: and the arkof the covenantof the LORDfollowedthem. And the armed menwentbeforethe prieststhat blewwith the trumpets, and the rearwardcameafterthe ark, the priests going on, and blowingwith the trumpets. And Joshuahad commandedthe people, saying, Ye shall notshout, normake any noisewithyour voice, neithershall any wordproceed outof your mouth, untilthe dayI bidyou shout; then shall ye shout. So the arkof the LORDcompassedthe city, going about it once: and they cameinto the camp, and lodgedin the camp. And Joshuarose earlyin the morning, and the prieststook upthe arkof the LORD. And sevenpriestsbearingseventrumpetsof rams' hornsbeforethe arkof the LORDwent on continually, and blewwith the trumpets: and the armed menwentbeforethem; but the rearwardcameafterthe arkof the LORD, the priests going on, and blowingwith the trumpets. And the seconddaythey compassedthe cityonce, and returnedinto the camp: sothey didsixdays. And it came to passon the seventhday, that they rose earlyabout the dawningof the day, and compassedthe cityafter the samemannerseventimes: onlyon thatdaythey compassedthe cityseventimes. And it came to passat the seventhtime, when the priestsblewwith the trumpets, Joshuasaiduntothe people, Shout; forthe LORDhath givenyou the city. And the cityshall beaccursed, even it, and allthat are therein, to the LORD: onlyRahabthe harlotshall live, sheand allthat are withher in the house, becauseshe hidthe messengersthatwe sent. And ye, in any wisekeep yourselves fromthe accursed thing, lestye make yourselves accursed, when ye takeofthe accursed thing, and makethe campof Israela curse, and troubleit. But allthe silver, and gold, and vesselsof brassand iron, are consecratedunto the LORD: they shall comeinto the treasuryof the LORD. So the peopleshoutedwhen the priests blewwith the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the peopleheardthe soundof the trumpet, and the peopleshoutedwith a greatshout, that the wallfell downflat, so that the peoplewent upinto the city, every manstraight beforehim, and they tookthe city. And they utterly destroyedallthat was in the city, both manand woman, youngand old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edgeof the sword. But Joshuahad saidunto the twomenthat had spied outthe country, Go intothe harlot's house, and bring outthencethe woman, and allthatshe hath, asye sworeunto her. And the young menthat were spieswent in, and brought outRahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and allthatshe had; and they brought outallher kindred, and leftthem withoutthe campof Israel. And they burntthe citywith fire, and allthat was therein: onlythe silver, and the gold, and the vesselsof brassand of iron, they putinto the treasuryof the houseof the LORD. And JoshuasavedRahabthe harlotalive, and her father's household, and allthatshe had; and she dwellethinIsrael even untothisday; becauseshe hidthe messengers, whichJoshuasentto spy outJericho. And Joshuaadjured them at thattime, saying, Cursed be the manbeforethe LORD, thatriseth upand buildeththiscityJericho: he shall lay the foundationthereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set upthe gatesof it. So the LORDwaswithJoshua; and his famewas noised throughout allthe country.
