Mybrethren, havenotthefaithof ourLordJesusChrist, the Lord of glory, withrespect of persons. Forifthere comeuntoyourassemblya manwith a gold ring, ingoodlyapparel, andthere come inalsoa poor maninvileraiment; Andye have respecttohim that weareththegayclothing, andsayunto him, Sitthouherein a good place; andsayto thepoor, Standthouthere, orsithereundermyfootstool: Are ye not then partialinyourselves, andare becomejudgesof evilthoughts? Hearken, mybelovedbrethren, Hath notGodchosenthepoorof thisworldrichinfaith, andheirsof thekingdomwhichhe hath promisedto them that lovehim? Butyehave despisedthepoor. Do notrich menoppressyou, anddrawyoubeforethe judgment seats? Do nottheyblasphemethat worthynameby the whichyeare called? Ifyefulfillthe royallawaccordingto theScripture, Thou shalt lovethyneighborasthyself, ye dowell: Butifye have respect to persons, ye commitsin, and are convincedofthelawastransgressors. Forwhosoevershall keepthewholelaw, andyet offendinone point, he isguiltyof all. Forhe that said, Do notcommit adultery, saidalso, Do notkill. Nowifthou commit no adultery, yetif thou kill, thou art becomea transgressorof the law. Sospeakye, andsodo, asthey that shall bejudgedbythe lawof liberty. Forhe shall have judgmentwithout mercy, that hath showednomercy; andmercyrejoiceth againstjudgment. What doth it profit, mybrethren, thougha mansayhe hathfaith, andhavenotworks? canfaithsavehim? Ifa brotherorsisterbenaked, anddestituteof dailyfood, Andoneofyousayunto them, Departinpeace, be ye warmedandfilled; notwithstandingye givethemnotthose things which are needfulto thebody; what doth it profit? Evensofaith, ifit hathnotworks, isdead, being alone. Yea, a manmay say, Thouhastfaith, and Ihaveworks: showmethyfaithwithoutthyworks, and Iwill showtheemyfaithbymyworks. Thoubelievestthatthere isoneGod; thou doestwell: thedevilsalsobelieve, andtremble. Butwiltthou know, Ovainman, thatfaithwithoutworksisdead? Was notAbrahamourfatherjustifiedbyworks, when he had offeredIsaachissonuponthealtar? Seestthou howfaithwrought withhisworks, andbyworkswas faithmade perfect? AndtheScripturewas fulfilledwhich saith, AbrahambelievedGod, andit was imputedunto himforrighteousness: andhe was calledthe Friendof God. Ye seethenhowthat byworksa manis justified, andnotbyfaithonly. Likewisealsowas notRahabtheharlotjustifiedbyworks, when she had receivedthemessengers, andhad sent them outanotherway? Forasthebodywithoutthe spiritisdead, sofaithwithoutworksisdeadalso.
