Paul, an apostleof JesusChristbythe commandmentof GodourSavior, andLordJesusChrist, which is ourhope; Unto Timothy, my ownsoninthe faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, fromGodourFatherandJesusChristourLord. AsI besoughttheeto abide stillatEphesus, when I wentintoMacedonia, thatthou mightest chargesomethat they teach no other doctrine, Neithergive heedto fablesandendlessgenealogies, whichministerquestions, ratherthangodlyedifyingwhichis infaith: so do. Nowtheendof thecommandmentischarityout ofa pureheart, and of a goodconscience, and of faithunfeigned: From whichsomehaving swervedhave turned asideuntovain jangling; Desiringto beteachers of the law; understandingneitherwhatthey say, norwhereofthey affirm. Butwe knowthatthelaw is good, ifa manuseitlawfully; Knowingthis, thatthe lawis notmadefor a righteous man, butfor the lawlessanddisobedient, for the ungodlyandfor sinners, for unholyandprofane, for murderers of fathersandmurderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, andif there be anyother thingthat is contraryto sounddoctrine; Accordingto thegloriousgospelof theblessedGod, whichwas committedto my trust. AndI thankChristJesusourLord, who hath enabledme, for thathe countedmefaithful, puttingme intothe ministry; Who wasbeforea blasphemer, anda persecutor, andinjurious: butI obtained mercy, becauseI did it ignorantlyinunbelief. Andthegraceof ourLordwas exceeding abundantwithfaithandlovewhichis inChristJesus. This is a faithfulsaying, andworthyof allacceptation, thatChristJesuscameintotheworldto savesinners; of whomIamchief. Howbeitfor this causeI obtained mercy, thatinmefirstJesusChristmight show forthalllongsuffering, fora patternto them which should hereafterbelieveonhimtolifeeverlasting. Nowunto theKingeternal, immortal, invisible, the onlywiseGod, be honorandgloryforever and ever. Amen. ThischargeI commitunto thee, sonTimothy, accordingto theprophecieswhich went beforeonthee, thatthou bythemmightest wara goodwarfare; Holdingfaith, anda goodconscience; whichsomehaving put awayconcerningfaithhave made shipwreck: Of whomisHymenaeusandAlexander; whomI have deliveredunto Satan, thatthey may learnnotto blaspheme.
