Thesewordsthe LORDspokeuntoallyour assemblyin the mountout of the midstof the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a greatvoice: and he added no more. And he wrotethem intwotablesof stone, and deliveredthem untome. And it came to pass, when ye heardthe voiceout of the midstof the darkness, (for the mountaindid burnwith fire,) that ye came nearuntome, even allthe headsof your tribes, and your elders; And ye said, Behold, the LORDour Godhath showedus his gloryand his greatness, and we have heardhis voiceout of the midstof the fire: we have seenthisdaythatGoddoth talkwithman, and he liveth. Nowtherefore whyshould we die? forthisgreatfirewill consumeus: ifwehearthe voiceof the LORDour Godany more, then we shall die. Forwho is there of allflesh, thathath heardthe voiceof the livingGodspeakingout of the midstof the fire, as we have , and lived? Go thou near, and hearallthatthe LORDour Godshall say: and speakthouuntous allthatthe LORDour Godshall speakuntothee; and we will hear it , and do it . And the LORDheardthe voiceof your words, when ye spokeuntome; and the LORDsaiduntome, I have heardthe voiceof the wordsof thispeople, whichthey have spokenuntothee: they have well saidallthatthey have spoken. O thatthere weresucha heartin them, that they would fearme, and keepallmy commandmentsalways, thatit might be wellwith them, and with their childrenforever! Gosayto them, Getyou into your tentsagain. But as for thee, standthou herebyme, and I will speakuntothee allthe commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, whichthou shalt teachthem, that they may do them in the landwhichIgivethem to possessit. Ye shall observeto dotherefore asthe LORDyour Godhath commandedyou: ye shall notturn asideto the right handor to the left. Ye shall walkin allthe wayswhichthe LORDyour Godhath commandedyou, thatye may live, and that it may be wellwith you, and that ye may prolong your daysin the landwhichye shall possess.
