Do we beginagainto commendourselves? orneedwe, assome others, epistlesof commendationtoyou, or letters of commendationfromyou? Yeareourepistlewritteninourhearts, knownandreadofallmen: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declaredtobethe epistleof Christministeredbyus, writtennotwith ink, butwith the Spiritof the livingGod; notintablesof stone, butinfleshytablesof the heart. Andsuchtrusthavewe throughChristtoGod-ward: Notthatwe aresufficientofourselvesto thinkany thingasofourselves; butoursufficiency is ofGod; Whoalsohath made us ableministersof the newtestament; notof the letter, butof the spirit: fortheletterkilleth, butthespiritgiveth life. Butiftheministrationof death, written and engraveninstones, wasglorious, so thatthechildrenof Israelcouldnotsteadfastlybeholdthefaceof Mosesforthegloryof hiscountenance; which glory was to be done away: Howshall nottheministrationof thespiritberatherglorious? Foriftheministrationof condemnation be glory, muchmoredoth theministrationof righteousnessexceedinglory. Foreventhat which was made glorioushad no gloryinthisrespect, by reason oftheglorythat excelleth. Forifthat which is done away was glorious, muchmorethat which remaineth is glorious. Seeing thenthat we havesuchhope, we usegreatplainness of speech: AndnotasMoses, which puta veiloverhisface, that thechildrenof Israelcould notsteadfastly looktotheendof that which is abolished: Buttheirmindswere blinded: foruntilthis dayremaineththesameveiluntaken awayinthereadingof theoldtestament; which veil is done awayinChrist. Buteven untothis day, whenMosesis read, the veilisupontheirheart. Neverthelesswhenit shall turntothe Lord, theveilshall be taken away. NowtheLordisthat Spirit: andwheretheSpiritof the Lord is, there is liberty. Butweall, with openfacebeholding as in a glassthegloryof the Lord, are changedinto thesameimagefromglorytoglory, even asbythe Spiritof the Lord.
