Listen, O isles, untome; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORDhath calledme from the womb; from the bowelsof my motherhath he made mentionof my name. And he hath mademy mouthlike a sharpsword; in the shadowof his handhath he hidme, and mademe a polishedshaft; in his quiverhath he hidme; And saidunto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whomI will be glorified. Then Isaid, I have laboredin vain, I have spentmy strengthfor naught, and in vain: yet surelymy judgment is withthe LORD, and my workwithmy God. And now, saiththe LORDthat formedme from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob againtohim, Though Israelbe not gathered, yet shall I be gloriousin the eyesof the LORD, and my Godshall bemy strength. And he said, It is a light thingthat thou shouldest bemy servantto raise upthe tribesof Jacob, and to restorethe preservedof Israel: I will also givethee for a lightto the Gentiles, that thou mayest bemy salvationuntothe endof the earth. Thussaiththe LORD, the Redeemerof Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom mandespiseth, to him whom the nationabhorreth, to a servantof rulers, Kingsshall seeand arise, princesalso shall worship, because ofthe LORDthatis faithful, and the Holy Oneof Israel, and he shall choosethee. Thussaiththe LORD, In an acceptabletimehave I heardthee, and in a dayof salvationhave I helpedthee: and I will preservethee, and givethee for a covenantof the people, to establishthe earth, to cause to inheritthe desolateheritages; That thou mayest sayto the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feedinthe ways, and their pastures shall be in allhigh places. They shall nothungernorthirst; neithershall the heatnor sunsmitethem: forhe that hath mercyon them shall leadthem, even bythe springsof watershall he guidethem. And I will makeallmy mountainsa way, and my highwaysshall be exalted. Behold, theseshall comefrom far: and, lo, thesefrom the northand from the west; and thesefrom the landof Sinim. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forthinto singing, O mountains: forthe LORDhath comfortedhis people, and will have mercyupon his afflicted. But Zionsaid, The LORDhath forsakenme, and my Lordhath forgottenme. Can a womanforgether sucking child, that she should not have compassionon the sonof her womb? yea, theymay forget, yet will Inotforgetthee. Behold, I have graventhee uponthe palms of my hands; thy walls are continuallybeforeme. Thy childrenshall make haste; thy destroyersand they that made thee wasteshall go forthofthee. Lift upthine eyesround about, and behold: allthese gather themselves together, and cometo thee. As Ilive, saiththe LORD, thou shalt surelyclothethee with them all, as with an ornament, and bindthem on thee , as a bride doeth . Forthy wasteand thy desolate places, and the landof thy destruction, shall evennowbe too narrowby reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee upshall be far away. The childrenwhich thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall sayagainin thine ears, The place is too straitfor me: give placeto me that I may dwell. Then shalt thou sayin thine heart, Whohath begottenme these, seeing Ihave lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and whohath brought upthese? Behold, Iwas leftalone; these, where had they been ? Thussaiththe LordGOD, Behold, I will lift upmine handtothe Gentiles, and set upmy standardtothe people: and they shall bringthy sonsin their arms, and thy daughtersshall be carriedupon their shoulders. And kingsshall bethy nursing fathers, and their queensthy nursing mothers: they shall bow downto thee with their facetoward the earth, and lick upthe dustof thy feet; and thou shalt knowthatI am the LORD: for theyshall notbe ashamedthat waitfor me. Shall the preybe takenfrom the mighty, orthe lawfulcaptivedelivered? Butthussaiththe LORD, Eventhe captivesof the mightyshall be taken away, and the preyof the terribleshall be delivered: for Iwill contend withhim that contendeth withthee, and Iwill savethy children. And I will feedthem that oppressthee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunkenwith their own blood, as with sweet wine: and allfleshshall knowthatIthe LORD am thy Saviorand thy Redeemer, the mighty Oneof Jacob.
