For, behold, the Lord, the LORDof hosts, doth take awayfrom Jerusalemand from Judahthe stayand the staff, the wholestayof bread, and the wholestayof water, The mightyman, and the manof war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, The captainof fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunningartificer, and the eloquentorator. And I will givechildren to be their princes, and babesshall ruleover them. And the peopleshall be oppressed, every oneby another, and every oneby his neighbor: the childshall behave himself proudlyagainst the ancient, and the baseagainst the honorable. Whena manshall take holdof his brotherof the houseof his father, saying , Thou hast clothing, bethou our ruler, and let thisruin be underthy hand: In thatdayshall he swear, saying, I will notbea healer; for in my house is neitherbreadnorclothing: makeme nota rulerof the people. ForJerusalemis ruined, and Judahis fallen: becausetheir tongueand their doings are againstthe LORD, to provokethe eyesof his glory. The showof their countenancedoth witnessagainst them; and they declaretheir sinas Sodom, they hide it not. Woeunto their soul! forthey have rewardedevilunto themselves. Sayye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him : forthey shall eatthe fruitof their doings. Woeunto the wicked! it shall be ill with him : forthe rewardof his handsshall be givenhim. As for my people, children are their oppressors, and womenruleover them. O my people, they which leadthee cause thee to err, and destroythe wayof thy paths. The LORDstandeth upto plead, and standethto judgethe people. The LORDwill enterinto judgmentwiththe ancientsof his people, and the princesthereof: for yehave eaten upthe vineyard; the spoilof the poor is in your houses. What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grindthe facesof the poor? saiththe LordGODof hosts. Moreover the LORDsaith, Becausethe daughtersof Zionare haughty, and walkwith stretched forthnecksand wantoneyes, walkingand mincing as they go, and making a tinklingwith their feet: Therefore the Lordwill smite with a scabthe crown of the headof the daughtersof Zion, and the LORDwill discovertheir secret parts. In thatdaythe Lordwill take awaythe braveryof their tinkling ornaments about their feet , and their cauls, and their round tireslike the moon, The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, The rings, and nosejewels, The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the veils. And it shall come to pass, that insteadof sweet smellthere shall bestink; and insteadof a girdlea rent; and insteadof well sethairbaldness; and insteadof a stomachera girdingof sackcloth; and burninginsteadof beauty. Thy menshall fallby the sword, and thy mightyin the war. And her gatesshall lamentand mourn; and she being desolateshall situpon the ground.
