Then the LORDansweredJobout ofthe whirlwind, and said, Who is thisthat darkenethcounselby wordswithoutknowledge? Gird upnowthy loinslike a man; for I will demandof thee, and answerthou me. Wherewastthou when I laid the foundationsof the earth? declare, ifthou hast understanding. Whohath laidthe measuresthereof, ifthou knowest? orwhohath stretchedthe lineuponit? Whereuponare the foundationsthereof fastened? orwholaidthe cornerstonethereof; When the morningstarssangtogether, and allthe sonsof Godshouted for joy? Or who shut upthe seawith doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued outof the womb? When I madethe cloudthe garmentthereof, and thick darknessa swaddling bandfor it, And broke upforit my decreed place , and setbarsand doors, And said, Hithertoshalt thou come, but nofurther: and hereshall thy proudwavesbe stayed? Hast thou commandedthe morningsince thy days; and caused the dayspringto knowhis place; That it might take holdof the endsof the earth, that the wickedmight be shakenout ofit? It is turnedas clay to the seal; and they standasa garment. And from the wickedtheir lightis withheld, and the higharmshall be broken. Hast thou enteredintothe springsof the sea? or hast thou walkedin the searchof the depth? Have the gatesof deathbeen openedunto thee? or hast thou seenthe doorsof the shadow of death? Hast thou perceivedthe breadthof the earth? declareifthou knowestit all. Where is the way where lightdwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the placethereof, Thatthou shouldest takeit tothe boundthereof, and thatthou shouldest knowthe paths to the housethereof? Knowestthou it , becausethou wast thenborn? or because the numberof thy days is great? Hast thou enteredintothe treasuresof the snow? or hast thou seenthe treasuresof the hail, WhichI have reservedagainst the timeof trouble, against the dayof battleand war? By whatwayis the lightparted, which scattereththe east winduponthe earth? Whohath divideda watercoursefor the overflowing of waters, or a wayfor the lightningof thunder; To cause it to rainonthe earth, where noman is; on the wilderness, wherein there is noman; To satisfythe desolateand waste ground ; and to cause the budof the tender herbto spring forth? Haththe raina father? orwhohath begottenthe dropsof dew? Out of whose wombcamethe ice? and the hoary frostof heaven, whohath engenderedit? The watersare hidas with a stone, and the faceof the deepis frozen. Canst thou bindthe sweet influencesof Pleiades, orloosethe bandsof Orion? Canst thou bring forthMazzarothin his season? or canst thou guideArcturuswithhis sons? Knowestthou the ordinancesof heaven? canst thou setthe dominionthereof in the earth? Canst thou lift upthy voiceto the clouds, that abundanceof watersmay coverthee? Canst thou sendlightnings, that they may go, and sayunto thee, Herewe are ? Whohath putwisdomin the inward parts? orwhohath givenunderstandingto the heart? Whocan numberthe cloudsin wisdom? or whocan staythe bottlesof heaven, When the dustgrowethinto hardness, and the clodscleave fast together? Wilt thou huntthe preyfor the lion? or fillthe appetiteof the young lions, Whenthey couchin their dens, and abidein the covertto lie in wait? Whoprovidethfor the ravenhis food? whenhis young onescryuntoGod, they wanderfor lackof meat.
