Moreover Josiahkepta passoverunto the LORDin Jerusalem: and they killedthe passoveron the fourteenth day of the firstmonth. And he setthe priestsintheir charges, and encouragedthem to the serviceof the houseof the LORD, And saidunto the Levitesthat taughtallIsrael, which were holyunto the LORD, Putthe holyarkin the housewhichSolomonthe sonof Davidkingof Israeldid build; it shall not be a burdenupon your shoulders: servenowthe LORDyour God, and his peopleIsrael, And prepare yourselves by the housesof your fathers, after your courses, according to the writingof Davidkingof Israel, and according to the writingof Solomonhis son. And standin the holy place according to the divisionsof the familiesof the fathersof your brethrenthe people, and after the divisionof the familiesof the Levites. So killthe passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepareyour brethren, that they may doaccording to the wordof the LORDby the handof Moses. And Josiahgaveto the people, of the flock, lambsand kids, allfor the passover offerings, for allthat were present, to the numberof thirtythousand, and threethousandbullocks: these were of the king's substance. And his princesgavewillinglyunto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiahand Zechariahand Jehiel, rulersof the houseof God, gaveunto the priestsfor the passover offeringstwo thousandand sixhundred small cattle , and threehundredoxen. Conaniahalso, and Shemaiahand Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiahand Jeieland Jozabad, chiefof the Levites, gaveunto the Levitesfor passover offeringsfivethousand small cattle , and fivehundredoxen. So the servicewas prepared, and the priestsstoodintheir place, and the Levitesintheir courses, according to the king's commandment. And they killedthe passover, and the priestssprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levitesflayed them . And they removedthe burnt offerings, that they might giveaccording to the divisionsof the familiesof the people, to offerunto the LORD, as it is writtenin the bookof Moses. And so did they with the oxen. And they roastedthe passoverwith fireaccording to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sodthey in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedilyamong allthe people. And afterwardthey made readyfor themselves, and for the priests: becausethe prieststhe sonsof Aaron were busied in offeringof burnt offeringsand the fatuntilnight; therefore the Levitespreparedfor themselves, and for the prieststhe sonsof Aaron. And the singersthe sonsof Asaph were intheir place, according to the commandmentof David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthunthe king's seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might notdepartfromtheir service; fortheir brethrenthe Levitespreparedfor them. So allthe serviceof the LORDwas preparedthe sameday, to keepthe passover, and to offerburnt offeringsuponthe altarof the LORD, according to the commandmentof kingJosiah. And the childrenof Israelthat were presentkeptthe passoverat thattime, and the feastof unleavened breadsevendays. And there was nopassoverlike tothat keptin Israelfrom the daysof Samuelthe prophet; neitherdidallthe kingsof Israelkeepsuch a passoverasJosiahkept, and the priests, and the Levites, and allJudahand Israelthat were present, and the inhabitantsof Jerusalem. Nevertheless Josiahwould notturnhis facefromhim, butdisguised himself, that he might fightwith him, and hearkenednotuntothe wordsof Nechofrom the mouthof God, and cameto fightin the valleyof Megiddo. And the archersshotat kingJosiah; and the kingsaidto his servants, Have me away; forI am sore wounded. His servantstherefore tookhim out ofthat chariot, and puthim inthe secondchariotthathe had; and they broughthim to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buriedin one of the sepulchersof his fathers. And allJudahand JerusalemmournedforJosiah. And JeremiahlamentedforJosiah: and allthe singing menand the singing womenspokeofJosiahin their lamentationstothis day, and madethem an ordinanceinIsrael: and, behold, they are writteninthe lamentations.
