And Hiramkingof Tyresenthis servantsuntoSolomon; forhe had heardthatthey had anointedhim kingin the roomof his father: forHiramwasevera loverof David. And SolomonsenttoHiram, saying, Thouknowesthow thatDavidmy fathercouldnotbuilda houseunto the nameof the LORDhis Godforthe warswhichwere about him on every side, untilthe LORDputthem underthe solesof his feet. But nowthe LORDmy Godhath given me reston every side, so that there is neitheradversarynoreviloccurrent. And, behold, I purposeto builda houseunto the nameof the LORDmy God, asthe LORDspokeuntoDavidmy father, saying, Thy son, whomI will setuponthy thronein thy room, heshall builda houseunto my name. Nowtherefore commandthou that they hewme cedar treesout ofLebanon; and my servantsshall bewiththy servants: and unto thee will I givehirefor thy servantsaccording to allthatthou shalt appoint: forthouknowestthat there is notamong us anythat can skillto hewtimberlike unto the Sidonians. And it came to pass, when Hiramheardthe wordsof Solomon, that he rejoicedgreatly, and said, Blessed be the LORDthis day, whichhath givenunto Davida wisesonoverthisgreatpeople. And HiramsenttoSolomon, saying, I have consideredthe things whichthou sentesttome for: and Iwill doallthy desireconcerning timberof cedar, and concerning timberof fir. My servantsshall bring them downfromLebanonunto the sea: and Iwill conveythem by seain floatsuntothe placethatthou shalt appointme, and will cause them to be dischargedthere, and thoushalt receive them : and thoushalt accomplishmy desire, in givingfoodfor my household. So HiramgaveSolomoncedartreesand firtrees according to allhis desire. And SolomongaveHiramtwentythousandmeasuresof wheat for foodto his household, and twentymeasuresof pureoil: thusgaveSolomonto Hiramyearby year. And the LORDgaveSolomonwisdom, ashe promisedhim: and there waspeacebetweenHiramand Solomon; and they twomade a league together. And kingSolomonraiseda levyout of allIsrael; and the levywasthirtythousandmen. And he sentthem to Lebanon, tenthousanda monthby courses: a monththey werein Lebanon, and twomonthsat home: and Adoniram was overthe levy. And Solomonhadthreescore and tenthousandthat boreburdens, and fourscorethousandhewersin the mountains; Beside the chiefof Solomon's officerswhich were overthe work, threethousandand threehundred, which ruledover the peoplethat wroughtin the work. And the kingcommanded, and they broughtgreatstones, costlystones, and hewedstones, to lay the foundationof the house. And Solomon's buildersand Hiram's buildersdid hew them , and the stonesquarers: so they preparedtimberand stonesto buildthe house.
