And when the daysof his mourningwere past, Josephspokeuntothe houseof Pharaoh, saying, IfnowI have foundgracein your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the earsof Pharaoh, saying, My fathermade me swear, saying, Lo, Idie: in my gravewhichI have diggedfor me in the landof Canaan, thereshalt thou buryme. Nowtherefore let me go up, I pray thee, and burymy father, and I will come again. And Pharaohsaid, Go up, and burythy father, according ashe made thee swear. And Josephwent upto buryhis father: and withhim went upallthe servantsof Pharaoh, the eldersof his house, and allthe eldersof the landof Egypt, And allthe houseof Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: onlytheir little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they leftin the landof Goshen. And there went upwithhim bothchariotsandhorsemen: and it wasa verygreatcompany. And they cametothe threshingfloorof Atad, which is beyondJordan, and therethey mournedwith a greatand verysorelamentation: and he madea mourningfor his fathersevendays. And when the inhabitantsof the land, the Canaanites, sawthe mourningin the floorof Atad, they said, This is a grievousmourningto the Egyptians: whereforethe nameof it was calledAbel-mizraim, which is beyondJordan. And his sonsdidunto him according ashe commandedthem: For his sonscarriedhim into the landof Canaan, and buriedhim in the caveof the fieldof Machpelah, whichAbrahamboughtwiththe fieldfor a possessionof a burial placeofEphronthe Hittite, beforeMamre. And Josephreturnedinto Egypt, he, and his brethren, and allthat went upwithhim to buryhis father, afterhe had buriedhis father. And when Joseph's brethrensawthattheir fatherwas dead, they said, Josephwill peradventurehateus, and will certainly requiteus allthe evilwhichwe didunto him. And they sent a messengeruntoJoseph, saying, Thy fatherdid commandbeforehe died, saying, Soshall ye sayunto Joseph, Forgive, I pray theenow, the trespassof thy brethren, and their sin; forthey didunto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgivethe trespassof the servantsof the Godof thy father. And Josephweptwhen they spokeuntohim. And his brethrenalsowentand fell downbefore his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. And Josephsaiduntothem, Fearnot: for am Iin the placeof God? But as for you, ye thoughtevilagainstme; but Godmeantit unto good, tobring to pass, as it is thisday, to save much people alive. Nowtherefore fearye not: Iwill nourishyou, and your little ones. And he comfortedthem, and spokekindlyunto them. And Josephdweltin Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Josephliveda hundredand tenyears. And JosephsawEphraim's childrenof the third generation : the childrenalsoof Machirthe sonof Manassehwere brought upuponJoseph's knees. And Josephsaiduntohis brethren, Idie: and Godwill surely visityou, and bringyou out ofthislanduntothe landwhichhe sworeto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And Josephtook an oathof the childrenof Israel, saying, Godwill surely visityou, and ye shall carry upmy bonesfrom hence. So Josephdied, being a hundredand tenyearsold: and they embalmedhim, and he was putin a coffinin Egypt.
