Whenthe LORDthy Godshall bringthee intothe landwhitherthougoestto possessit, and hath cast outmanynationsbeforethee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, sevennationsgreaterand mightierthanthou; And when the LORDthy Godshall deliverthem beforethee; thou shalt smitethem, and utterly destroythem; thou shalt makenocovenantwith them, norshow mercyunto them: Neithershalt thou make marriageswith them; thy daughterthou shalt notgiveunto his son, norhis daughtershalt thou takeunto thy son. Forthey will turn awaythy sonfrom followingme, that they may serveothergods: so will the angerof the LORDbe kindledagainst you, and destroythee suddenly. Butthusshall ye dealwith them; ye shall destroytheir altars, and break downtheir images, and cut downtheir groves, and burntheir graven imageswith fire. Forthou art a holypeopleunto the LORDthy God: the LORDthy Godhath chosenthee to bea specialpeopleunto himself, above allpeoplethat are uponthe faceof the earth. The LORDdid notset his loveupon you, nor chooseyou, because ye were more in numberthan anypeople; forye were the fewestof allpeople: Butbecause the LORDlovedyou, and because he would keepthe oathwhichhe had swornunto your fathers, hath the LORDbrought you outwith a mightyhand, and redeemedyou out of the houseof bondmen, from the handof Pharaohkingof Egypt. Knowtherefore thatthe LORDthy God, he is God, the faithfulGod, which keepethcovenantand mercywith them that lovehim and keephis commandmentsto a thousandgenerations; And repayeththem that hatehim totheir face, to destroythem: he will notbe slackto him that hatethhim, he will repayhim tohis face. Thou shalt therefore keepthe commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, whichIcommandthee this day, to dothem. Wherefore it shall come to pass, ifye hearkento thesejudgments, and keep, and dothem, that the LORDthy Godshall keepunto thee the covenantand the mercywhichhe sworeunto thy fathers: And he will lovethee, and blessthee, and multiplythee: he will also blessthe fruitof thy womb, and the fruitof thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increaseof thy kine, and the flocksof thy sheep, inthe landwhichhe sworeunto thy fathersto givethee. Thou shalt beblessedabove allpeople: there shall notbemaleor female barrenamong you, or among your cattle. And the LORDwill take awayfromthee allsickness, and will putnoneof the evildiseasesof Egypt, whichthou knowest, upon thee; but will laythem upon all them that hatethee. And thou shalt consumeallthe peoplewhichthe LORDthy Godshall deliverthee; thine eyeshall have no pityuponthem: neithershalt thou servetheir gods; forthat will be a snareunto thee. Ifthou shalt sayin thine heart, Thesenations are morethanI; howcanI dispossessthem? Thou shalt notbe afraidofthem: but shalt well rememberwhatthe LORDthy Goddidunto Pharaoh, and unto allEgypt; The greattemptationswhichthine eyessaw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mightyhand, and the stretched outarm, wherebythe LORDthy Godbrought thee out: soshall the LORDthy Goddounto allthe peopleof whomthouart afraid. Moreoverthe LORDthy Godwill sendthe hornetamong them, untilthey that are left, and hide themselvesfromthee, be destroyed. Thou shalt notbe frightenedatthem: forthe LORDthy God is amongyou, a mightyGodand terrible. And the LORDthy Godwill put outthosenationsbeforethee by littleand little: thou mayestnotconsumethem at once, lestthe beastsof the fieldincreaseuponthee. But the LORDthy Godshall deliverthem untothee, and shall destroythem with a mightydestruction, untilthey be destroyed. And he shall delivertheir kingsinto thine hand, and thou shalt destroytheir namefrom underheaven: there shall nomanbe able to standbeforethee, untilthou have destroyedthem. The graven imagesof their godsshall ye burnwith fire: thou shalt notdesirethe silveror gold that is onthem, nor take it unto thee, lestthou be snaredtherein: forit is an abominationto the LORDthy God. Neithershalt thou bringan abominationintothine house, lest thou bea cursed thinglike it: but thou shalt utterly detestit, and thou shalt utterly abhorit; forit is a cursed thing.
