Then we turned, and went upthe wayto Bashan: and Ogthe kingof Bashancame outagainstus, heand allhis people, to battleat Edrei. And the LORDsaiduntome, Fearhim not: forI will deliverhim, and allhis people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt dounto him asthou didstunto Sihonkingof the Amorites, whichdweltat Heshbon. So the LORDour Goddeliveredinto our handsOgalso, the kingof Bashan, and allhis people: and we smotehim untilnonewas leftto him remaining. And we tookallhis citiesat thattime, there wasnota citywhichwe tooknotfromthem, threescorecities, allthe regionof Argob, the kingdomof Ogin Bashan. Allthesecities were fencedwith highwalls, gates, and bars; besideunwalledtownsa greatmany. And we utterly destroyedthem, aswe didunto Sihonkingof Heshbon, utterly destroyingthe men, women, and children, of everycity. But allthe cattle, and the spoilof the cities, we took for a preyto ourselves. And we tookat thattimeout of the handof the twokingsof the Amoritesthe landthat was on this sideJordan, from the riverof ArnonuntomountHermon; ( Which Hermonthe SidonianscallSirion; and the Amoritescallit Shenir;) Allthe citiesof the plain, and allGilead, and allBashan, untoSalchahand Edrei, citiesof the kingdomof Ogin Bashan. ForonlyOgkingof Bashanremainedof the remnantof giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedsteadof iron; is itnotin Rabbathof the childrenof Ammon? ninecubits was the lengththereof, and fourcubitsthe breadthof it, after the cubitof a man. And thisland, which we possessedat thattime, from Aroer, which is bythe riverArnon, and halfmountGilead, and the citiesthereof, gaveI unto the Reubenitesand to the Gadites. And the restof Gilead, and allBashan, being the kingdomof Og, gaveI unto the halftribeof Manasseh; allthe regionof Argob, with allBashan, whichwas calledthe landof giants. Jairthe sonof Manassehtookallthe countryof Argobuntothe coastsof Geshuriand Maachathi; and calledthem afterhis own name, Bashan-havoth-jair, untothisday. And I gaveGileadunto Machir. And unto the Reubenitesand unto the GaditesI gavefromGileadeven untothe riverArnonhalfthe valley, and the bordereven untothe riverJabbok, which is the borderof the childrenof Ammon; The plainalso, and Jordan, and the coast thereof , from Chinneretheven untothe seaof the plain, even the saltsea, underAshdoth-pisgah eastward. And I commandedyou at thattime, saying, The LORDyour Godhath givenyou thislandto possessit: ye shall pass overarmedbeforeyour brethrenthe childrenof Israel, all that are meet for the war. Butyour wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, ( for I knowthatye have muchcattle,) shall abidein your citieswhichI have givenyou; Untilthe LORDhave given restunto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until theyalsopossessthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godhath giventhem beyondJordan: and then shall ye returnevery manunto his possession, whichI have givenyou. And I commandedJoshuaat thattime, saying, Thine eyeshave seenallthatthe LORDyour Godhath doneunto thesetwokings: soshall the LORDdounto allthe kingdomswhitherthoupassest. Ye shall notfearthem: forthe LORDyour Godheshall fightfor you. And I besoughtthe LORDat thattime, saying, O LordGOD, thouhast begunto showthy servantthy greatness, and thy mightyhand: forwhatGod is there in heavenor in earth, thatcan doaccording to thy works, and according to thy might? I pray thee, let me go over, and seethe goodlandthat is beyondJordan, thatgoodlymountain, and Lebanon. But the LORDwas wrothwith me for your sakes, and would nothearme: and the LORDsaiduntome, Let it sufficethee; speaknomoreuntome of thismatter. Get thee upinto the topof Pisgah, and lift upthine eyeswestward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: forthou shalt notgo overthisJordan. But chargeJoshua, and encouragehim, and strengthenhim: forheshall go overbeforethispeople, and heshall cause them to inheritthe landwhichthou shalt see. So we abodein the valleyover againstBeth-peor.
