AmI notan apostle? amI notfree? have I notseenJesusChristourLord? arenotyemyworkinthe Lord? IfI benotan apostleunto others, yetdoubtlessI amto you: forthesealof mineapostleshipareyeinthe Lord. Mineanswerto them that do examinemeisthis, Havewe notpowerto eatandto drink? Havewe notpowerto lead abouta sister, a wife, as well asotherapostles, and as thebrethrenof theLord, andCephas? OrIonlyandBarnabas, havenotwe powerto forbear working? Whogoeth a warfareany timeat his owncharges? whoplantetha vineyard, andeatethnotofthefruitthereof? orwhofeedetha flock, andeatethnotofthemilkof theflock? SayI these thingsasa man? orsaithnotthelawthe samealso? Forit is writteninthelawof Moses, Thou shalt notmuzzlethe mouth of the oxthat treadeth out the corn. DothGodtake carefor oxen? Orsaithhe it altogetherfor our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: thathe that plowethshouldplowinhope; andthat he that threshethinhopeshould be partakerof hishope. Ifwehave sownunto youspiritual things, is it a great thingifweshall reapyourcarnal things? Ifothersbe partakersof this powerover you, are notwerather? Neverthelesswe have notusedthispower; butsufferall things, lestwe should hinderthegospelof Christ. Do ye notknowthatthey which ministerabout holy thingslive of the things ofthetemple? and they which waitat thealtarare partakers withthealtar? Evensohath theLordordainedthat they which preachthegospelshould liveofthegospel. ButIhave usednoneof these things: neitherhave I writtenthese things, thatit should be sodoneuntome: for it were betterfor metodie, thanthatany manshould make my glorying void. ForthoughI preach the gospel, Ihavenothingto glory of: fornecessityis laid uponme; yea, woeisunto me, ifI preach not the gospel! ForifI dothis thingwillingly, I havea reward: butifagainst my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committedunto me. Whatismyrewardthen? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may makethegospelof Christwithout charge, that I abusenotmypowerinthegospel. Forthough I befreefromall men, yet have I made myself servantunto all, thatI might gainthemore. Andunto theJewsI becameasa Jew, thatI might gainthe Jews; to themthat are underthe law, asunderthe law, thatI might gainthemthat are underthe law; To them that are without law, aswithout law, ( beingnotwithout lawto God, butunder the lawto Christ,) thatI might gainthem that are without law. To theweakbecameI asweak, thatI might gaintheweak: I am madeall thingsto all men, thatI might by all meanssavesome. AndthisI dofor the gospel's sake, thatI might bepartaker thereof with you. Knowye notthatthey which runina racerunall, butonereceiveththeprize? Sorun, thatye may obtain. Andevery manthat striveth for the masteryis temperatein all things. Nowthey do ittoobtaina corruptiblecrown; butwean incorruptible. Ithereforesorun, notasuncertainly; sofightI, notasone that beateththe air: ButI keepundermybody, andbring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preachedto others, I myselfshould bea castaway.
