Andthey were glad, andcovenantedto givehimmoney. Andhe promised, andsoughtopportunityto betrayhimunto themin the absence ofthe multitude. AndtrulytheSon of mangoeth, as it was determined: butwoe unto thatmanbywhom he is betrayed! Andtheybeganto inquireamongthemselves, whichofthemit wasthat shoulddothis thing. Andthere wasalsoa strifeamongthem, whichof themshould be accountedthegreatest. Andhesaidunto them, Thekings of theGentiles exercise lordship overthem; and they that exercise authority uponthem are calledbenefactors. Butye shall not be so: but he that is greatestamongyou, let him beastheyounger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. Forwhether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? butIamamongyouas he that serveth. Yeare they which have continuedwithmeinmytemptations. And Iappoint unto you a kingdom, asmyFather hath appointed unto me; That ye may eatanddrinkatmytableinmykingdom, andsitonthronesjudgingthetwelvetribes of Israel. AndtheLordsaid, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you aswheat: ButI have prayedforthee, thatthyfaithfailnot: andwhenthou art converted, strengthenthybrethren. Andhesaidunto him, Lord, I amreadyto gowiththee, bothintoprison, andtodeath. Andhesaid, I tellthee, Peter, the cock shall notcrow this day, beforethat thou shalt thricedeny that thouknowestme. Andhe saidunto them, When I sentyouwithoutpurse, andscrip, andshoes, lacked ye any thing? Andtheysaid, Nothing. Thensaidhe unto them, Butnow, he that hath a purse, let him take it, andlikewisehisscrip: and he that hathno sword, let him sellhisgarment, andbuyone. For I say unto you, thatthis that is writtenmustyet be accomplishedinme, And he was reckonedamong the transgressors: for the thingsconcerningmehave an end. Andtheysaid, Lord, behold, here are twoswords. Andhesaidunto them, It isenough. Andhe came out, and went, as he was wont, tothemountof Olives; andhisdisciplesalsofollowedhim. Andwhen he rose upfromprayer, and was cometohis disciples, he foundthemsleepingforsorrow, Andsaidunto them, Whysleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enterintotemptation. Andwhile heyetspake, beholda multitude, andhe that was calledJudas, oneof thetwelve, went beforethem, anddrew nearunto Jesusto kisshim. ButJesussaidunto him, Judas, betrayest thou theSon of man with a kiss? Whentheywhich were abouthimsawwhat would follow, they saidunto him, Lord, shall wesmitewiththe sword? Andoneofthemsmotetheservantof thehigh priest, andcut offhisrightear. AndJesusansweredand said, Suffer ye thus far. Andhe touchedhisear, and healedhim. ThenJesussaiduntothe chief priests, andcaptainsof thetemple, andthe elders, which were cometohim, Be ye come out, asagainst a thief, withswordsandstaves? When Iwasdailywithyouinthetemple, ye stretched forthnohandsagainstme: butthisisyourhour, andthepower of darkness. Thentookthey him, and led him, andbroughthimintothehigh priest's house. AndPeterfollowedafar off. Andwhen theyhad kindleda fireinthe midstof thehall, andwere set down together, Petersat downamongthem. Buta certainmaidbeheldhimas he satbythefire, andearnestly lookedupon him, and said, This manwasalsowithhim. Andhedeniedhim, saying, Woman, I knowhimnot. Andaftera little whileanothersawhim, and said, Thouartalsoofthem. AndPetersaid, Man, I amnot. Andaboutthe space of one hour afteranotherconfidently affirmed, saying, Of a truththis fellow alsowaswithhim: forhe isaGalilaean. AndPetersaid, Man, I knownotwhatthou sayest. Andimmediately, while heyetspake, thecockcrew. AndtheLordturned, and looked uponPeter. AndPeterrememberedthewordof theLord, howhe had saidunto him, Before the cockcrow, thou shalt denymethrice. AndPeterwentout, and weptbitterly. Andthementhat heldJesusmockedhim, and smotehim. Andwhen they had blindfoldedhim, they struckhimon theface, andaskedhim, saying, Prophesy, whoisit that smotethee? Andmanyother thingsblasphemouslyspakethey againsthim. Andas soon asit wasday, theeldersof thepeopleandthe chief priestsandthe scribescame together, andledhimintotheircouncil, saying, ArtthoutheChrist? tellus. Andhe saidunto them, If I tellyou, ye will notbelieve: Andif I alsoask you, ye will notanswerme, nor let me go. HereaftershalltheSon of mansiton the right hand of thepower of God. Thensaidthey all, ArtthouthentheSonof God? Andhesaiduntothem, YesaythatIam. Andtheysaid, Whatneedwe any furtherwitness? forwe ourselveshave heardofhis ownmouth.
