Andforgiveusoursins; forwealsoforgive every one that is indebted to us. Andleadusnotintotemptation; butdeliverusfromevil. Andhe saiduntothem, Whichofyou shall have a friend, and shall gountohim at midnight, andsay unto him, Friend, lendmethreeloaves; For a friend of minein his journey is cometome, and I havenothingto set beforehim? And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: thedoor is nowshut, andmychildrenarewithmeinbed; I cannotrise and givethee. I say unto you, Though he will notrise and givehim, because he ishisfriend, yetbecause of hisimportunity he will rise and givehim as many as he needeth. And Isay unto you, Ask, and it shall be givenyou; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that askethreceiveth; and he that seekethfindeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall askbread of any of you that is a father, will hegivehim a stone? orif he ask a fish, will he for a fishgivehim a serpent? Orif he shall ask an egg, will heofferhim a scorpion? Ifyethen, beingevil, know how to givegoodgifts unto yourchildren: how muchmore shall your heavenlyFathergive the HolySpirit to them that askhim? Andhe wascasting outa devil, anditwasdumb. Andit came to pass, when thedevilwas gone out, thedumbspake; andthepeoplewondered. Butsomeofthemsaid, He casteth outdevilsthroughBeelzebubthe chiefof thedevils. Andothers, tempting him, soughtofhima signfromheaven. Buthe, knowingtheirthoughts, saidunto them, Everykingdomdividedagainstitself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a housefalleth. IfSatanalso be dividedagainsthimself, how shall hiskingdomstand? because ye say that I cast outdevilsthroughBeelzebub. AndifIbyBeelzebub cast outdevils, bywhom do yoursons cast them out? therefore shall theybeyourjudges. Butif I with the finger of God cast outdevils, no doubtthekingdom of God is comeuponyou. When a strong manarmedkeepethhispalace, hisgoodsareinpeace: Butwhen a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcomehim, he taketh from him all his armorwherein he trusted, anddividethhisspoils. He that isnotwithmeisagainstme: and he that gatherethnotwithmescattereth. Whentheuncleanspirit is gone out of a man, he walkeththroughdryplaces, seekingrest; andfindingnone, he saith, I will returnuntomyhousewhence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it sweptandgarnished. Thengoeth he, andtaketh to him sevenotherspirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, anddwellthere: andthelast state of thatmanisworse than thefirst. Andit came to pass, as hespakethese things, a certainwomanofthecompanylifted upher voice, and saidunto him, Blessed is thewombthat barethee, andthe papswhichthou hast sucked. Buthesaid, Yea rather, blessed are they that heartheword of God, andkeepit. Andwhen thepeoplewere gathered thick together, he beganto say, Thisis an evilgeneration: they seek a sign; and there shall nosign be givenit, butthesign of Jonahtheprophet. ForasJonahwas a sign unto theNinevites, so shall alsotheSon of manbe to thisgeneration. The queen of the south shall rise upinthejudgmentwiththemen of thisgeneration, andcondemnthem: for she camefromthe utmost parts of theearth to hearthewisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh shall rise upinthejudgmentwiththisgeneration, and shall condemnit: for they repentedatthepreaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neitherunder a bushel, buton a candlestick, that they which come in may seethelight. Thelight of thebodyistheeye: thereforewhenthineeyeissingle, thywholebodyalsois full of light; butwhen thine eye isevil, thybodyalso is full of darkness. Take heedtherefore that thelightwhich is intheebenotdarkness. Ifthywholebodytherefore be full of light, havingnopartdark, the whole shall be full of light, aswhenthe bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. Andas he spake, a certainPhariseebesoughthimtodinewithhim: andhe wentin, and sat down to meat. Andwhen thePhariseesaw it, he marveledthathe had notfirstwashedbeforedinner. AndtheLordsaiduntohim, Now do yePharisees make cleantheoutside of thecupandtheplatter; butyour inward part is full of raveningandwickedness. Ye fools, did not he that madethat which is withoutmakethat which is withinalso? But rather givealms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all thingsareclean unto you. Butwoe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithemintandrueand all manner of herbs, and pass overjudgmentandthelove of God: theseought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye lovethe uppermost seatsinthesynagogues, andgreetingsinthemarkets. Woe unto you, scribesandPharisees, hypocrites! for ye areasgraves which appear not, andthemen that walkover them are not aware of them . Thenansweredoneof thelawyers, and saidunto him, Master, thussayingthou reproachestusalso. Andhesaid, Woe unto youalso, ye lawyers! for ye lademen with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselvestouchnottheburdens with one of yourfingers. Woe unto you! for ye buildthesepulchers of theprophets, andyourfatherskilledthem. Truly ye bear witnessthat ye allowthedeeds of yourfathers: fortheyindeedkilledthem, andyebuildtheirsepulchers. Thereforealsosaidthewisdom of God, I will sendthemprophetsandapostles, and some ofthem they shall slayandpersecute: Thattheblood of alltheprophets, which was shedfrom the foundation of the world, may be requiredofthisgeneration; Fromtheblood of Abeluntotheblood of Zacharias, which perishedbetweenthealtarandthetemple: verily I say unto you, It shall be requiredofthisgeneration. Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken awaythekey of knowledge: ye entered not inyourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. Andas hesaidthese thingsuntothem, thescribesandthePhariseesbeganto urge him vehemently, andto provoke him to speakofmany things: Laying waitfor him, andseekingto catchsomethingout ofhismouth, thatthey might accusehim.
