Andthere went outuntohimallthelandof Judea, andthey of Jerusalem, andwere allbaptizedofhimintheriverof Jordan, confessingtheirsins. AndJohnwasclothed withcamel's hair, andwith a girdleof a skinabouthisloins; andhe did eatlocustsandwildhoney; Andpreached, saying, There comethonemightierthan Iafterme, thelatchetof whoseshoesIamnotworthyto stoop downand unloose. Iindeedhave baptizedyouwithwater: butheshall baptizeyouwiththe HolyGhost. Andit came to passinthosedays, that JesuscamefromNazarethof Galilee, andwas baptizedofJohninJordan. Andstraightwaycoming upout ofthewater, he sawtheheavensopened, andtheSpiritlikea dovedescendinguponhim: Andthere camea voicefromheaven, saying, ThouartmybelovedSon, inwhomI am well pleased. AndimmediatelytheSpiritdrivethhimintothewilderness. Andhe wasthereinthewildernessfortydays, temptedofSatan; andwaswiththewild beasts; andtheangelsministeredunto him. Nowafterthat Johnwas put in prison, JesuscameintoGalilee, preachingthegospelof thekingdomof God, Andsaying, Thetime is fulfilled, andthekingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, andbelievethegospel. Nowas he walkedbytheseaof Galilee, he sawSimonandAndrewhisbrothercastinga netintothesea: forthey werefishers. AndJesussaidunto them, Come ye afterme, and I will makeyou to becomefishers of men. Andstraightwaythey forsooktheirnets, andfollowedhim. Andwhen he had gonea little fartherthence, he sawJamesthe son of Zebedee, andJohnhisbrother, whoalsowere intheshipmendingtheir nets. Andstraightwayhe calledthem: andthey lefttheirfatherZebedeeintheshipwiththehired servants, andwentafterhim. Andthey wentintoCapernaum; andstraightwayon thesabbath dayhe enteredintothesynagogue, and taught. Andthey were astonishedathisdoctrine: forhe taughtthemasone that hadauthority, andnotasthescribes. Andthere wasintheirsynagoguea manwithan uncleanspirit; andhe cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesusof Nazareth? art thou cometo destroyus? I knowtheewhothou art, theHoly Oneof God. AndJesusrebukedhim, saying, Hold thy peace, andcome out ofhim. Andwhen theuncleanspirithad tornhim, andcriedwith a loudvoice, he cameout ofhim. Andthey were allamazed, insomuch thatthey questionedamongthemselvessaying, What thingisthis? whatnewdoctrine is this? forwithauthoritycommandethhe eventheuncleanspirits, andthey do obeyhim. Andimmediatelyhisfamespread abroadthroughoutalltheregion round aboutGalilee. Andforthwith, when they were comeout ofthesynagogue, they enteredintothehouseof SimonandAndrew, withJamesandJohn. ButSimon's wife's motherlaysick of a fever, andanonthey tellhimofher. Andhe cameand tookherby thehand, and lifted her up; andimmediatelythefeverlefther, andshe ministeredunto them. Andat even, whenthesundid set, they broughtuntohimallthat were diseased, andthem that were possessed with devils. Andallthecitywasgathered togetheratthedoor. Andhe healedmanythat were sickof diversdiseases, andcast outmanydevils; andsufferednotthedevilsto speak, becausethey knewhim. Andin the morning, rising upa great while before day, he went out, anddepartedintoa solitaryplace, and thereprayed. AndSimonandtheythat were withhimfollowed afterhim. Andwhen they had foundhim, they saidunto him, All men seek forthee. Andhe saidunto them, Let us gointothenexttowns, that I may preach there also: fortherefore came I forth. Andhe preachedintheirsynagoguesthroughoutallGalilee, andcast outdevils. Andthere camea lepertohim, beseechinghim, andkneeling downto him, andsayingunto him, Ifthou wilt, thou canstmake me clean. AndJesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touchedhim, andsaithunto him, I will; be thou clean. And, as soon as hehad spoken, immediatelytheleprosydepartedfromhim, andhe was cleansed. Andhe straitly chargedhim, and forthwithsent him away; Andsaithunto him, See thou saynothing to any man: but go thy way, showthyself to thepriest, andofferforthycleansing those things whichMosescommanded, for a testimony unto them. Buthewent out, and beganto publish it much, andto blaze abroadthematter, insomuch thatJesuscouldno moreopenlyenterintothe city, butwaswithoutindesertplaces: andthey cametohimfrom every quarter.
