Neither shalt thou swearbythyhead, because thou canstnotmakeonehairwhiteorblack. But let yourcommunicationbe, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than thesecomethofevil. Ye have heardthat it hath been said, An eyefor an eye, and a toothfor a tooth: ButIsay unto you, That ye resistnotevil: butwhosoever shall smitetheeonthyrightcheek, turn to himtheotheralso. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take awaythycoat, let himhave thy cloakalso. Andwhosoever shall compel thee to goamile, gowithhimtwain. Give to him that askeththee, and from him that wouldborrowofthee turn not thou away. Ye have heardthat it hath been said, Thou shalt lovethyneighbor, andhatethineenemy. ButIsay unto you, Loveyourenemies, bless them that curseyou, dogood to them that hateyou, andprayfor them which despitefully useyou, andpersecuteyou; That ye may be the children of yourFatherwhich is inheaven: for he maketh hissun to riseon the eviland on the good, and sendeth rainon the justand on the unjust. Forif ye love them which loveyou, whatrewardhave ye? donoteventhepublicansthesame? Andif ye saluteyourbrethrenonly, whatdo ye more than others ? donoteventhepublicansso? Beyethereforeperfect, even asyourFatherwhich is inheavenisperfect.
