The samedaywentJesusout ofthehouse, andsatbythesea side. Andgreatmultitudeswere gathered togetheruntohim, so thathewentintoa ship, and sat; andthewholemultitudestoodontheshore. Andhe spakemany thingsunto theminparables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when hesowed, some seeds fellbythe way side, andthefowlscameand devoured them up: Somefellupon stony places, where they hadnotmuchearth: andforthwith they sprung up, because they hadnodeepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they hadnoroot, they withered away. Andsomefellamongthorns; andthethorns sprung up, andchokedthem: Butotherfellintogoodground, and brought forthfruit, some a hundredfold, somesixtyfold, somethirtyfold. Who hathears to hear, let him hear. Andthedisciplescame, and saidunto him, Whyspeakestthou unto theminparables? Heansweredand saidunto them, Because it is given unto you to knowthemysteries of thekingdom of heaven, but to them it is notgiven. Forwhosoeverhath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: butwhosoeverhathnot, fromhim shall be taken awayeventhat he hath. Thereforespeak I to theminparables: because they seeingseenot; andhearing they hearnot, neither do they understand. Andinthem is fulfilledtheprophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall notunderstand; andseeing ye shall see, and shall notperceive: Forthispeople's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, andtheireyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, andhear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should healthem. Butblessed are youreyes, for they see: andyourears, for they hear. Forverily I say unto you, Thatmanyprophetsandrighteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have notseen them ; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have notheard them. Hearyethereforetheparable of thesower. When any oneheareththeword of thekingdom, andunderstandeth it not, then comeththewicked one, and catcheth away that which was sowninhisheart. Thisis he which received seedbythe way side. But he that received the seedinto stony places, the sameis he that heareththeword, andanonwithjoyreceivethit; Yethath he notrootinhimself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulationorpersecutionarisethbecause of theword, by and by he is offended. He also that received seedamongthethornsis he that heareththeword; andthecare of thisworld, andthedeceitfulness of riches, choketheword, and he becomethunfruitful. But he that received seedintothegoodgroundis he that heareththeword, andunderstandeth it ; whichalso beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfoldsomesixty, somethirty. Anotherparableput he forthunto them, saying, Thekingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowedgoodseedinhisfield: But while menslept, hisenemycameandsowedtaresamongthewheat, and went his way. Butwhentheblade was sprung up, and brought forthfruit, thenappearedthetaresalso. Sotheservants of thehouseholdercame and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sowgoodseedinthyfield? from whencethenhath it tares? Hesaid unto them, Anenemy hath donethis. Theservantssaid unto him, Wilt thou then that we goand gather them up? Buthesaid, Nay; lest while ye gather upthetares, ye root up also thewheatwiththem. Letboth grow togetheruntiltheharvest: andinthetime of harvest I will say to thereapers, Gather ye togetherfirstthetares, andbindtheminbundles to burnthem: butgatherthewheatintomybarn. Anotherparableput he forthunto them, saying, Thekingdom of heavenis like to a grain of mustard seed, which a mantook, andsowedinhisfield: Whichindeedis the least of allseeds: butwhen it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, andbecometh a tree, so thatthebirds of theaircomeandlodgeinthebranchesthereof. Anotherparablespakehe unto them; Thekingdom of heavenis like untoleaven, which a womantook, andhidinthreemeasures of meal, tillthewhole was leavened. Allthese thingsspakeJesusunto themultitudeinparables; andwithouta parablespakehe notunto them: Thatit might be fulfilledwhich was spokenbytheprophet, saying, I will openmymouthinparables; I will utterthings which have been kept secretfromthe foundationof the world. ThenJesussent the multitude away, and wentintothehouse: andhisdisciplescameunto him, saying, Declareunto ustheparableof thetaresof thefield. Heansweredand saidunto them, He that soweththegoodseedistheSon of man; Thefieldistheworld; thegoodseedarethechildren of thekingdom; butthetaresarethechildren of thewicked one ; Theenemy that sowedthemisthedevil; theharvestis the end of theworld; andthereapersare the angels. Asthereforethetares are gatheredandburned in the fire; so shall it beintheend of thisworld. TheSon of man shall send forthhisangels, and they shall gather out ofhiskingdom all things that offend, and them which doiniquity; And shall casttheminto a furnace of fire: there shall bewailingandgnashing of teeth. Then shall therighteous shine forthasthesuninthekingdom of theirFather. Who hathears to hear, let him hear. Again, thekingdom of heavenis like untotreasurehidin a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, andforjoythereofgoethandsellethallthat he hath, andbuyeththatfield. Again, thekingdom of heavenis like unto a merchantman, seekinggoodlypearls: Who, when he had foundonepearl of great price, went and soldallthat he had, andboughtit. Again, thekingdom of heavenis like unto a net, that was castintothesea, andgatheredofeverykind: Which, when it was full, they drewtoshore, and sat down, and gatheredthegoodintovessels, butcastthebadaway. So shall it beattheend of theworld: theangels shall come forth, andseverthewickedfromamongthejust, And shall castthemintothefurnace of fire: there shall bewailingandgnashing of teeth. Jesussaithunto them, Have ye understoodall these things? Theysayunto him, Yea, Lord. Thensaidheunto them, Thereforeeveryscribe which is instructeduntothekingdom of heavenis like unto a man that is a householder, which bringeth forthout of histreasure things newandold. Andit came to pass, that whenJesushad finishedtheseparables, he departedthence. Andwhen he was comeintohis owncountry, he taughtthemintheirsynagogue, insomuch thattheywere astonished, andsaid, Whencehath this man thiswisdom, and these mighty works? Isnotthisthecarpenter's son? is nothismothercalledMary? andhisbrethren, James, andJoses, andSimon, andJudas? Andhissisters, arethey notallwithus? Whencethenhath this man allthese things? Andthey were offendedinhim. ButJesussaidunto them, A prophetisnot without honor, savein his owncountry, andin his ownhouse. Andhe didnotmanymighty workstherebecauseof theirunbelief.
