Ephraimfeedethon wind, and followeth afterthe east wind: he dailyincreasethliesand desolation; and they do makea covenantwiththe Assyrians, and oilis carriedinto Egypt. The LORDhath also a controversywithJudah, and will punishJacobaccording to his ways; according to his doingswill he recompensehim. He took his brother by the heelin the womb, and by his strengthhe had powerwithGod: Yea, he had poweroverthe angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplicationunto him: he foundhim in Bethel, and therehe spokewithus; Even the LORDGodof hosts; the LORD is his memorial. Therefore turnthouto thy God: keepmercyand judgment, and waitonthy Godcontinually. He is a merchant, the balancesof deceit are in his hand: he lovethto oppress. And Ephraimsaid, YetI am become rich, I have found me outsubstance: in allmy laborsthey shall findnoneiniquityin me that were sin. And I that am the LORDthy Godfrom the landof Egyptwill yetmake thee to dwellin tabernacles, as in the daysof the solemn feast. I have also spokenbythe prophets, and Ihave multipliedvisions, and used similitudes, by the ministryof the prophets. Is there iniquity in Gilead? surelythey arevanity: they sacrificebullocksin Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heapsinthe furrowsof the fields. And Jacobfledinto the countryof Syria, and Israelservedfor a wife, and for a wifehe kept sheep . And by a prophetthe LORDbroughtIsraelout of Egypt, and by a prophetwas he preserved. Ephraimprovoked him to angermost bitterly: therefore shall he leavehis blooduponhim, and his reproachshall his Lordreturnunto him.
