In the ninthyearof Zedekiahkingof Judah, in the tenthmonth, cameNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonand allhis armyagainstJerusalem, and they besiegedit. And in the eleventhyearof Zedekiah, in the fourthmonth, the ninth day of the month, the citywas broken up. And allthe princesof the kingof Babyloncame in, and satin the middlegate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, with allthe residueof the princesof the kingof Babylon. And it came to pass, that whenZedekiahthe kingof Judahsawthem, and allthe menof war, then they fled, and went forthout ofthe cityby night, by the wayof the king's garden, by the gatebetweenthe two walls: and he went outthe wayof the plain. But the Chaldeans' armypursuedafterthem, and overtookZedekiahin the plainsof Jericho: and when they had takenhim, they brought him uptoNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonto Riblahin the landof Hamath, where he gavejudgmentuponhim. Then the kingof Babylonslewthe sonsof Zedekiahin Riblahbefore his eyes: also the kingof Babylonslewallthe noblesof Judah. Moreover he put outZedekiah's eyes, and boundhim with chains, to carryhim to Babylon. And the Chaldeansburnedthe king's house, and the housesof the people, with fire, and broke downthe wallsof Jerusalem. ThenNebuzaradanthe captainof the guardcarried away captiveinto Babylonthe remnantof the peoplethat remainedin the city, and those that fell away, thatfelltohim, with the restof the peoplethat remained. But Nebuzaradanthe captainof the guardleftof the poorofthe people, whichhad nothing, in the landof Judah, and gavethem vineyardsand fieldsat the sametime. Now Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylongave chargeconcerningJeremiahtoNebuzaradanthe captainof the guard, saying, Takehim, and look welltohim, and dohim noharm; butdountohim evenashe shall sayuntothee. So Nebuzaradanthe captainof the guardsent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, and allthe kingof Babylon's princes; Even they sent, and tookJeremiahout of the courtof the prison, and committedhim untoGedaliahthe sonof Ahikamthe sonof Shaphan, that he should carryhim home: so he dweltamongthe people. Now the wordof the LORDcameuntoJeremiah, while he wasshut upin the courtof the prison, saying, Goand speakto Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts, the Godof Israel; Behold, I will bringmy wordsuponthiscityfor evil, and notfor good; and they shall be accomplished in thatdaybeforethee. But I will deliverthee in thatday, saiththe LORD: and thou shalt notbe giveninto the handof the menof whomthou art afraid. ForI will surely deliverthee, and thou shalt notfallby the sword, but thy lifeshall befor a preyunto thee: becausethou hast put thy trustin me, saiththe LORD.
