The wordthatcametoJeremiahconcerningallthe peopleof Judahin the fourthyearof Jehoiakimthe sonof Josiahkingof Judah, that was the firstyearof Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon; The whichJeremiahthe prophetspokeuntoallthe peopleof Judah, and toallthe inhabitantsof Jerusalem, saying, Fromthe thirteenthyearof Josiahthe sonof Amonkingof Judah, even untothisday, that is the threeand twentiethyear, the wordof the LORDhath comeuntome, and I have spokenuntoyou, rising earlyand speaking; but ye have nothearkened. And the LORDhath sentuntoyou allhis servantsthe prophets, rising earlyand sending them ; but ye have nothearkened, norinclinedyour earto hear. They said, Turn ye againnowevery onefrom his evilway, and from the evilof your doings, and dwellinthe landthatthe LORDhath givenunto you and to your fathersforeverand ever: And gonotafterothergodsto servethem, and to worshipthem, and provoke me not to angerwith the worksof your hands; and I will do you no hurt. Yet ye have nothearkeneduntome, saiththe LORD; thatye might provoke me to angerwith the worksof your handsto your own hurt. Thereforethussaiththe LORDof hosts; Becauseye have notheardmy words, Behold, I will sendand takeallthe familiesof the north, saiththe LORD, and Nebuchadnezzarthe kingof Babylon, my servant, and will bringthem againstthisland, and againstthe inhabitantsthereof, and againstallthesenationsround about, and will utterly destroythem, and makethem an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetualdesolations. Moreover I will takefromthem the voiceof mirth, and the voiceof gladness, the voiceof the bridegroom, and the voiceof the bride, the soundof the millstones, and the lightof the candle. And thiswholelandshall bea desolation, and an astonishment; and thesenationsshall servethe kingof Babylonseventyyears. And it shall come to pass, when seventyyearsare accomplished, that I will punishthe kingof Babylon, and thatnation, saiththe LORD, fortheir iniquity, and the landof the Chaldeans, and will makeit perpetualdesolations. And I will bringuponthatlandallmy wordswhichI have pronouncedagainstit, even allthat is writtenin thisbook, whichJeremiahhath prophesiedagainstallthe nations. Formanynationsand greatkingsshall servethemselvesof them also: and I will recompensethem according to their deeds, and according to the worksof their own hands. Forthussaiththe LORDGodof Israeluntome; Takethe winecupof thisfuryat my hand, and cause allthe nations, to whomIsendthee, to drinkit. And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, becauseof the swordthatI will sendamongthem. Then tookI the cupat the LORD's hand, and made allthe nationsto drink, untowhomthe LORDhad sentme: To wit , Jerusalem, and the citiesof Judah, and the kingsthereof, and the princesthereof, to makethem a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse; as it is thisday; Pharaohkingof Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and allhis people; And allthe mingled people, andallthe kingsof the landof Uz, and allthe kingsof the landof the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnantof Ashdod, Edom, and Moab, and the childrenof Ammon, And allthe kingsof Tyrus, and allthe kingsof Zidon, and the kingsof the isleswhich are beyondthe sea, Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmostcorners, And allthe kingsof Arabia, and allthe kingsof the mingled peoplethat dwellin the desert, And allthe kingsof Zimri, and allthe kingsof Elam, and allthe kingsof the Medes, And allthe kingsof the north, farand near, onewithanother, and allthe kingdomsof the world, which are uponthe faceof the earth: and the kingof Sheshachshall drinkafterthem. Therefore thou shalt sayuntothem, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts, the Godof Israel; Drinkye, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and risenomore, becauseof the swordwhichIwill sendamongyou. And it shall be, ifthey refuseto takethe cupat thine handto drink, then shalt thou sayuntothem, Thussaiththe LORDof hosts; Ye shall certainly drink. For, lo, Ibeginto bring evilon the citywhichis calledbymy name, and should yebe utterly unpunished? Ye shall notbe unpunished: forIwill call fora sworduponallthe inhabitantsof the earth, saiththe LORDof hosts. Therefore prophesythouagainstthem allthesewords, and sayuntothem, The LORDshall roarfrom on high, and utterhis voicefrom his holyhabitation; he shall mightily roaruponhis habitation; he shall givea shout, as they that tread the grapes , againstallthe inhabitantsof the earth. A noiseshall come even tothe endsof the earth; forthe LORDhath a controversywith the nations, hewill pleadwith allflesh; he will givethem that are wickedto the sword, saiththe LORD. Thussaiththe LORDof hosts, Behold, evilshall go forthfrom nationtonation, and a greatwhirlwindshall be raised upfrom the coastsof the earth. And the slainof the LORDshall beat thatdayfrom one endof the eartheven untothe other endof the earth: they shall notbe lamented, neithergathered, norburied; they shall bedunguponthe ground. Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes , ye principalof the flock: forthe daysof your slaughterand of your dispersionsare accomplished; and ye shall falllike a pleasantvessel. And the shepherdsshall have no way to flee, nor the principalof the flockto escape. A voiceof the cryof the shepherds, and a howlingof the principalof the flock, shall be heard : forthe LORDhath spoiledtheir pasture. And the peaceablehabitationsare cut downbecauseof the fierceangerof the LORD. He hath forsakenhis covert, as the lion: fortheir landisdesolatebecauseof the fiercenessof the oppressor, and becauseof his fierceanger.
