The LORDshowedme, and, behold, twobasketsof figs were setbeforethe templeof the LORD, after thatNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad carried away captiveJeconiahthe sonof Jehoiakimkingof Judah, and the princesof Judah, withthe carpentersand smiths, from Jerusalem, and had broughtthem to Babylon. Onebasket had verygoodfigs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the otherbasket had verynaughtyfigs, whichcould notbe eaten, they were so bad. Then saidthe LORDuntome, Whatseestthou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the goodfigs, verygood; and the evil, veryevil, thatcannotbe eaten, they are so evil. Again the wordof the LORDcameuntome, saying, Thussaiththe LORD, the Godof Israel; Like thesegoodfigs, sowill I acknowledgethem that are carried away captiveof Judah, whomI have sentout ofthisplaceinto the landof the Chaldeansfor their good. For I will setmine eyesuponthem for good, and I will bring them againtothisland: and I will buildthem, and notpull them down; and I will plantthem, and notpluck them up. And I will givethem a heartto knowme, thatI am the LORD: and they shall bemy people, and Iwill betheir God: forthey shall returnuntome with their wholeheart. And as the evilfigs, whichcannotbe eaten, they are so evil; surelythussaiththe LORD, Sowill I giveZedekiahthe kingof Judah, and his princes, and the residueof Jerusalem, that remainin thisland, and them that dwellin the landof Egypt: And I will deliverthem to be removedinto allthe kingdomsof the earthfor their hurt, to be a reproachand a proverb, a tauntand a curse, in allplaceswhitherI shall drivethem. And I will sendthe sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, tillthey be consumedfrom offthe landthatI gaveunto them and to their fathers.
