Thussaiththe LORDuntome, Goand getthee a linengirdle, and putit uponthy loins, and putit notin water. So I gota girdleaccording to the wordof the LORD, and put it onmy loins. And the wordof the LORDcameuntome the second time, saying, Takethe girdlethatthou hast got, which is uponthy loins, and arise, goto Euphrates, and hideit therein a holeof the rock. So I went, and hidit by Euphrates, asthe LORDcommandedme. And it came to passaftermanydays, that the LORDsaiduntome, Arise, goto Euphrates, and takethe girdlefrom thence, whichI commandedthee to hidethere. Then I wentto Euphrates, and digged, and tookthe girdlefromthe placewhereI had hidit: and, behold, the girdlewas marred, it was profitablefor nothing. Then the wordof the LORDcameuntome, saying, Thussaiththe LORD, After this mannerwill I marthe prideof Judah, and the greatprideof Jerusalem. Thisevilpeople, which refuseto hearmy words, which walkin the imaginationof their heart, and walkafterothergods, to servethem, and to worshipthem, shall even beas thisgirdle, whichis goodfor nothing. Forasthe girdlecleavethtothe loinsof a man, sohave I caused to cleaveuntome the wholehouseof Israeland the wholehouseof Judah, saiththe LORD; that they might beunto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would nothear. Therefore thou shalt speakuntothem thisword; Thussaiththe LORDGodof Israel, Everybottleshall be filledwith wine: and they shall sayuntothee, Do we notcertainly knowthateverybottleshall be filledwith wine? Then shalt thou sayuntothem, Thussaiththe LORD, Behold, I will fillallthe inhabitantsof thisland, even the kingsthat situponDavid's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and allthe inhabitantsof Jerusalem, with drunkenness. And I will dashthem oneagainstanother, even the fathersand the sonstogether, saiththe LORD: I will notpity, norspare, norhave mercy, but destroythem. Hearye, and give ear; be notproud: forthe LORDhath spoken. Givegloryto the LORDyour God, beforehe cause darkness, and beforeyour feetstumbleuponthe darkmountains, and, while ye lookfor light, he turnit into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. But ifye will nothearit, my soulshall weepin secret placesfor your pride; and mine eyeshall weep sore, and run downwith tears, becausethe LORD's flockis carried away captive. Sayunto the kingand to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: foryour principalitiesshall come down, even the crownof your glory. The citiesof the southshall be shut up, and noneshall open them : Judahshall be carried away captiveallof it, it shall be whollycarried away captive. Lift upyour eyes, and beholdthem that comefrom the north: where is the flock that was giventhee, thy beautifulflock? Whatwilt thou saywhenhe shall punishthee? for thouhast taughtthem to be captains, and as chiefoverthee: shall notsorrowstakethee, asa womanin travail? And ifthou sayin thine heart, Whereforecomethese thingsupon me? For the greatnessof thine iniquityare thy skirtsdiscovered, and thy heelsmade bare. Can the Ethiopianchangehis skin, or the leopardhis spots? then mayyealsodo good, that are accustomedto do evil. Therefore will I scatterthem as the stubblethat passeth awayby the windof the wilderness. This is thy lot, the portionof thy measuresfromme, saiththe LORD; becausethou hast forgottenme, and trustedin falsehood. Thereforewill Idiscoverthy skirtsuponthy face, that thy shamemay appear. I have seenthine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdnessof thy whoredom, and thine abominationsonthe hillsin the fields. Woeunto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou notbe made clean? when shall it once be ?
