The burdenof the valleyof vision. Whataileth thee now, thatthou art whollygone upto the housetops? Thou that art fullof stirs, a tumultuouscity, a joyouscity: thy slain men are notslainwith the sword, nordeadin battle. Allthy rulersare fledtogether, they are boundby the archers: allthat are foundin thee are boundtogether, which have fledfrom far. ThereforesaidI, Look awayfromme; I will weepbitterly, labornotto comfortme, becauseof the spoilingof the daughterof my people. For it is a dayof trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexityby the LordGODof hostsin the valleyof vision, breaking downthe walls, and of cryingtothe mountains. And Elamborethe quiverwith chariotsof men and horsemen, and Kiruncoveredthe shield. And it shall come to pass, that thy choicestvalleysshall be fullof chariots, and the horsemenshall set themselves in arrayat the gate. And he discoveredthe coveringof Judah, and thou didst lookin thatdaytothe armorof the houseof the forest. Ye have seenalso the breachesof the cityof David, thatthey are many: and ye gathered togetherthe watersof the lowerpool. And ye have numberedthe housesof Jerusalem, and the houseshave ye broken downto fortifythe wall. Ye madealso a ditchbetweenthe two wallsfor the waterof the oldpool: but ye have notlookeduntothe makerthereof, neitherhad respectunto him that fashionedit long ago. And in thatdaydid the LordGODof hostscallto weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girdingwith sackcloth: And beholdjoyand gladness, slayingoxen, and killingsheep, eatingflesh, and drinkingwine: let us eatand drink; fortomorrowwe shall die. And it was revealedin mine earsby the LORDof hosts, Surelythisiniquityshall not be purgedfrom you tillye die, saiththe LordGODof hosts. Thussaiththe LordGODof hosts, Go, getthee untothistreasurer, even untoShebna, which is overthe house, and say , Whathast thou here? and whomhast thou here, thatthou hast hewed thee outa sepulcherhere, as he that heweth him outa sepulcheron high, and that gravetha habitationfor himself in a rock? Behold, the LORDwill carry thee awaywith a mightycaptivity, and will surely coverthee. He will surely violently turnand tossthee like a ballintoa largecountry: thereshalt thou die, and therethe chariotsof thy glory shall be the shameof thy lord's house. And I will drivethee from thy station, and from thy stateshall he pull thee down. And it shall come to passin thatday, that I will callmy servantEliakimthe sonof Hilkiah: And I will clothehim with thy robe, and strengthenhim with thy girdle, and I will committhy governmentinto his hand: and he shall bea fatherto the inhabitantsof Jerusalem, and to the houseof Judah. And the keyof the houseof Davidwill I layuponhis shoulder; so he shall open, and noneshall shut; and he shall shut, and noneshall open. And I will fastenhim as a nailin a sureplace; and he shall befor a gloriousthroneto his father's house. And they shall hanguponhim allthe gloryof his father's house, the offspringand the issue, allvesselsof small quantity, from the vesselsof cups, even toallthe vesselsof flagons. In thatday, saiththe LORDof hosts, shall the nailthat is fastenedin the sureplacebe removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burdenthat was uponit shall be cut off: forthe LORDhath spoken it .
