Keepthy footwhenthou goesttothe houseof God, and be more readyto hear, than to givethe sacrificeof fools: for they considernotthatthey doevil. Be notrashwiththy mouth, and let notthine heartbe hastyto utter any thingbeforeGod: forGod is in heaven, and thouuponearth: thereforelet thy wordsbefew. Fora dreamcomeththrough the multitudeof business; and a fool's voice is known by multitudeof words. Whenthou vowesta vowunto God, defernotto payit; for he hath nopleasurein fools: paythat whichthou hast vowed. Better is it thatthou shouldest notvow, than that thou shouldest vowand notpay. Suffernotthy mouthto cause thy fleshto sin; neithersaythou beforethe angel, thatit was an error: whereforeshould Godbe angryatthy voice, and destroythe workof thine hands? Forin the multitudeof dreamsand manywords there are also divers vanities: butfearthou God. Ifthou seestthe oppressionof the poor, and violent pervertingof judgmentand justicein a province, marvelnotatthe matter: for he that is higherthanthe highestregardeth; and there be higherthanthey. Moreover the profitof the earthis for all: the king himself is servedby the field. He that lovethsilvershall notbe satisfiedwith silver; nor hethat lovethabundancewith increase: this is alsovanity. When goodsincrease, they are increasedthat eatthem: and whatgood is there to the ownersthereof, savingthe beholding of them with their eyes? The sleepof a laboring man is sweet, whetherhe eatlittleormuch: but the abundanceof the richwill notsufferhim to sleep. There isa soreevil which I have seenunderthe sun, namely , richeskeptfor the ownersthereof to their hurt. But thoserichesperishby eviltravail: and he begettetha son, and there is nothingin his hand. Ashe came forthof his mother's womb, nakedshall he returnto goas he came, and shall takenothingof his labor, which he may carry wayin his hand. And thisalso is a soreevil, that in allpointsas he came, soshall he go: and whatprofithath he that hath laboredfor the wind? Allhis daysalsohe eatethin darkness, and he hath muchsorrowand wrathwith his sickness. Behold that whichIhave seen: it is goodand comely for one to eatand to drink, and to enjoythe goodof allhis laborthat he takethunderthe sunallthe daysof his life, whichGodgivethhim: forit is his portion. Everymanalsoto whomGodhath givenrichesand wealth, and hath given him powerto eatthereof, and to takehis portion, and to rejoicein his labor; this is the giftof God. Forhe shall notmuchrememberthe daysof his life; becauseGodanswereth him in the joyof his heart.
